If you have ever had an allergic reaction to another penicillin or to a cephalosporin, do not take amoxicillin without first talking to your doctor.

If the allergic reaction was a rash, swelling, shortness of breath, or something along those lines than yes I say you are allergic to both. Just because you take an antibiotic once does not mean that the next time you take it you won't have a reaction. If you have a mild reaction to a medication the next time you take the medication the reaction will get more servere. Personally, I had a 1 in 10 chance of reacting to 2 drugs in the same family, I ended up in the Emergency Room.

I'm a nursing student and I know they're in the same drug family so you'll probably be allerrgic to amoxicillin too or at least sensitive to it.

if you are allergic to one, then you probably are to the other.
like, i developed an allergy to a sulfa-med, so my dr knows not to prescribe any sulfa-meds to me anymore.
it could be possible that i'm not allergic to all of them, but they like to play it safe.

Dunno, but I'm allergic to both. Had hives with both. I think they are very similar. I reacted exaclty the same with both.
