My parents have caused me much grief and misery. I don't want to have anything else to do with them and I don't want them to be able to see my kids either....due to the way I was raised....I feel it would be emotionally (not to mention physically) abusive for them to have any contact. There are grandparent rights in North Carolina and I'm curious how to terminate them 100%. Any ideas how to do this???

My parents have quite a bit of financial resources and they can go anywhere if they want to.

I was miserably married and fathered two kids. I have been divorced for nearly 6 years. My partner and I are now raising my two kids together.

Wow, how brave of you to make that decision. Most people who have been abused dont have the courage to stay away. But yeah just stay away, it wouldnt be good for your kids to know them. Move to another state. You should have to do anything drastic like changing your name, but you should talk to an attorney-check out pre-paid legal services, its worth every dime. do a google search.

You need to see a lawyer. Grandparent rights frequently don't mean anything unless there's a divorce.

You can terminate rights in a soft way. Just stop visiting, be always too busy to take calls, don't open cards / letters and move away.

Move to another state so visiting is not a realistic option...

i am in the same situation. you can't divorce your parents. stay as far away from them as possible, don't let them ruin your life.
