Hi guys, heres my question
Some Christians say everything that happpens is gods will, is that true? If everything is according to god will how are we able to sin and commit the actions we know the lord would not want us to.

We were born sinful. We inherited sin and imperfection from our first parents and so we have the tendency to sometimes make imperfect, sinful decisions. We also have free-will to make good decisions and if we have a Bible trained conscience, then we will allow our conscience to be our guide. God's Word is so beneficial. 2 Timothy 3:16: " All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness" NW Tran.

And now comes the BS. They will tell you free will. But you have it correct - free will cannot exist if everything happens because of God's plan... It is a total contradiction that they cannot get away from, other than to make shyt up.

Now, remember - everything happens because of God's will. That means, if you get some horrible disease, its God's will. If you grow up to be the richest man on earth - thats God's will. And, if you grow up to be a mass murdering, fetus eating monster, that too is God's will. Therefore, Hitler was an angel - he was performing God's will - God WANTED all those Jews dead. Jeffrey Dahlmer - saint. John Wayne Gacy - saint. they were all fulfilling God's plan...

Its one of the other. Either we have free will, or God has a plan. A plan cannot include free will, because that free will would negate the possibility for the plan to remain in place. Period. No two ways about it. Look at it logically - you have a child, your plan is for it to become a medical doctor. This means lots of schooling, education, etc. You lay out a plan - but allow the child COMPLETE free will. Do you think this child will eventually become a medical doctor? HELL NO! He isnt going to study freely, he will not make the right choices, and he will not end up educated. The reason we have doctors today is because parents dont allow a child complete free will - they punish, force kids to go to school, etc. If you had a total choice, school would not be it... So, free will and a plan cannot work together. It just wont happen.

I am a christian and I would not say everything is God's will. God gave us the ability to think and choose for ourselves. We are not puppets on a string. God allows things to happen to us to teach us and help us grow. Much in the same way your Dad did not run behind your bike and hold it up until you were thirteen years old, right? No he held on until he thought you could handle it by yourself and then he backed off. Although anxious about you falling and wishing he could protect you from falling. He knew the only way you would build confidence and get better was to step back and let things happen. We are all sinners, God knows that. That is why he sent his Son to die for us on a cross. So our sins could be forgiven. Because without him dying for us we could not be cleansed of our sins and would never be able to enter into heaven. When you were a child were you perfect? No I think not. Your parents did the best they could in trying to help you understand what was right and what was wrong. I am sure there were times when your little head still decided to do the wrong thing. Just because you are an adult does not mean you won't still have times when you do the wrong thing. All the Lord asks us to do is to allow him to forgive you and work harder at not making the wrong choices. People who say something is God's will generally mean they are leaving it up to the Lord to decide instead of making the decision themselves. When an old woman dies in her sleep. Yes the Lord has decided to take her home to be with him. But we live in a really ugly society and you cannot say it was God's will for a little child to die at the hands of an abusive father. God would not will that to happen. But he will not stop it from happening either, because then WE WOULD BE "puppets on a string". Does this help? Email me if you need to talk futher.

Everything is not Gods will but our own. That's why we are here on earth to learn. Not only about good and evil, pain and pleasure, but also about ourselves. God does know what is going to happen but you must look at it from a parents point of view. He lets somethings happen just for us as a whole people to learn and things as individuals also. Just like a parent may tell a child not to touch something hot knowing the child will, but does not stop them. The parent knows that the child's fingers will be fine in the long run but will hurt for a while, he lets the child find out that for himself after just the warning. The lord also knows this, even after death we will be fine in his care. Bad things happen but we have to trust the lord in how the end result would be. If a murder or rape was committed and that person went strait to hell and every one knew it then no one would ever murder or rape thus taking away our free choice and the opportunity to know ourselves. I just thank God for giving us Jesus Christ that we may be forgiven of some of our sins.

This has always bothered me too. How can things be God's will and yet we have choices...free will. It's an age-old argument.

I personally don't think much of anything is God's will....other than he gave me a brain and a conscience and put me here to see what I do with them!

A troubling story: There is a guy I knew. Wasn't very smart and did not make much money. Wife and four kids. Went to one of those non-denominational flashy strip mall churches and gave his 15% or whatever. He was a religion addict, pardon the expression. You know what I mean.

One day, his wife picked him up from his job and I noticed the whole taillight assembly from their beat up old car was falling out and only being held by the wires. I called out and stopped him and alerted him to the situation. Rather than push the taillight back in place, he just smiled with this dumb smile and says "Oh that's OK, the Lord will provide!"

Yeah Buddy, the Lord provided you with a friggin brain and the ability to do things for yourself!

No, it's not true. Everyone has a free will to do as they like - even sin. But God can work good from evil. Take for instance Judas who betrayed Christ. Jesus said of him, "It would be better for that man if he had never been born." Yet, through Judas' sin Christ redeemed the whole world. This doesn't mean that God approves of sin or that He wont punish it. Nor does it mean it's His will. I can see how it might be confusing...
The thing is, the only thing God needs from us is love. Perfect love. If we have perfect love it would be impossible to sin because we wouldn't be able to stand the thought of hurting Him. And the reason we have free will is that God wants our love to be voluntary. He could have easily made us to where we couldn't do anything but love Him. But love isn't really love unless it is given freely and consciously.

Then some Christians are wrong. Nowhere in the Bible does it tell us that everything that happens is Gods will. We should pray that we will be in Gods will and that everything we do is in accord with Gods will, but everything will not necessarily be in Gods will. Now why do bad things happen to good people. I don't know, but without the mind of God, we will never know. If you are confused, seek your answers from a Bible believing and preaching minister in your community. There is so much to understand. God bless you.

"…and He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times, and the boundaries of their habitation, that they should seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us…"(Acts 17:26-27)

Our world is full of ideas. One of our greatest challenges is trying to sort through the hundreds of messages about life that swirl overhead every day.

You had ask if everything is God's will.
Well, yes and no, because what we chose to do was not God's will, God just let it happened, he wont get involved in your personal life, cause then He is not been a gentleman. God is respectful and respect your decisions.

God can worn you through family and friend of things that you should not do, he will try to hold you into making a mistake, but still you go over that word and continue doing it. Do you think that was God's will, no, it was your will.

So what is happening in the word today, we are not to blame God, but the world itself. He controls the universe, no it our life.

If they really believed this then they would never make choices, as God was really in control. They wouldn't protest abortion because if it was that fetus' time to die, that was God's doing, not the doctor's or the mother's. They would fight no wars, as if God wanted them to be ruled or killed or enslaved, that is God's doing and they have no real free will to oppose it.

No one could be held accountable for their actions because if you killed someone, that was God's will and you have no choice in the matter. The concept is flawed, either everything is God's will or nothing is. If everything is, there is nothing you should do except wait to die.

The only was you can be in the will of God is trust and believe in what the Lord Jesus Christ did for you on the cross. He died for your sins, He was buried and took your sins away and He rose again the third day for your justification. If you have truly believed that then the will of God for your live is to thank Him in all things. He did it all and all you had to do is believe that. 1 Thessalonians 5: 18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
