The cat approached me and was very friendly. It allowed me to place it on its' back, touch its' paws, and even take its' food. It had a great personality and we just clicked.

I've adopted a number of cats from shelters through the years. In each case, except one, it was something in their eyes. I can't explain it.
PJ - the exception to that rule looked SO much like the pictures I have of my mom and dad's first cat - an orange and white fluffball, I HAD to have him. Of my current "purrballs", he's the quirkiest - but a joy to have as part of the family.
Truth be known - I could probably be a "crazy cat lady" - I would LOVE to be able to run a rescue. These poor babies - the fact that there are SO many of them "put down" through no fault of their own, breaks my heart.
So, thank you for adopting a shelter cat. And encourage all your friends to have their pet spayed or neutered so shelters are not overcrowded and more innocents aren't put to death because of OUR carelessness.

When I got my cat from the shelter, there were certain things I was looking for. Most people like to adopt kittens, but I wanted grown cat. I wanted a cat that was already de-clawed (I know, many think this is cruel, but I don't agree), and I also wanted a big cat. I don't know why, but I just like the big, sturdy, healthy looking cats.
When I got up to the cage, and saw those turquoise eyes looking at me, I was in love. then he started "talking" to me, and that was it. I guess we sort of choose each other.

I would say that i choose my cat because she or her came up to me in their cage. If it were up to me I would want to buy all the cats and dogs in the animal shelter.

she had odd colored eyes, one blue, one green like David Bowie and second, she was an older cat and felt bad because everyone in the shelter wanted kittens. i worried she would be euthanized so i took her home. she is the most loving cat.

She reminded me of the cat that I had lost, and I fell in love with her. She's a sweetheart.

My kitty picked me. She was older than the rest and needed me to take her home, so I did. I love her! (My kids say I love her more than them. You know, she doesnt fight or mouth-off to me....)
