we as Jehovah Witnesses will not take blood, even if I was not a Jehovah Witnesses I would never take blood. there are other things that doctors can give you instead of blood. many doctors will not give you blood either. many have floors that don't give blood. I am sure glad that they do. our children will not bleed to death. there are other things that doctors can give us without blood. so if you rather take it and get aids and die, that you on your head. I rather live.

The interesting thing about this subject is that many doctors now also believe that blood transfusions are dangerous. There are hospitals now that have "bloodless wings" where they do all of their surgeries w/o blood. There are many "alternatives" that Doctors can use. A doctor from the US was quoted as saying that 'people don't die because of not receiving blood transfusions, they die because of trauma' If anyone is interested in reading more about bloodless surgery I would suggest this link: http://www.watchtower.org/library/g/1998/8/22/article_01.htm
Also, for those that don't believe that the Bible says "abstain from Blood" The Bible tells Christians to 'abstain from blood. at Acts 15:28, 29 and Genesis 9:4.tells them not to eat it. Back in that time period, they didn't have transfusions, so it is the principle that we are looking at. If the Doctor told you to 'abstain from alcohol,' would you pump it into your veins? You wouldn't be drinking it...NO Abstain means to avoid in any form.

You have to take into account that certain laws were created based on the conditions of the day. Back in those days there was no refrigeration and we were not to EAT blood. Because it is not healthy. Also because many other religions had rituals that called for drinking Blood that was sacrificed. In the Jewish religion in those days, blood was a sacrificed to God through various offerings, so to drink it would have been to throw respect for God's offerings in God's face.
Today, blood is used for a very different purpose. Because it is not used as a sacrifice to another God, the purpose of blood transfusions is to help save a life. And since God does not want us to take a life, it is definitely okay to donate blood or receive a blood transfusion.

I heard a rabbi once say that G od wants us to choose life over death. If there is a serious emergency requiring a blood transfusion in order to live, we must make the choice. I would choose life, but that's me. I mean if G od has helped mankind discover this life saving tool, why not accept it.
Also, non religiously speaking, if someone willingly refuses a transfusion (assuming that it will kill them not to) and if that person dies, will it be like suicide?

Eating blood is not the same as having a TRANSFUSION.
Scientifically it is best to avoid whole blood. There are alternatives. There is always a possibility of a virus or bug slipping through the testing. If its a matter of live or death it CERTAINLY IS OK to have a transfusion.
Transfusions are NOT BLOOD RITUALS!

Without using the Bibles explanation for not using Blood, these are good enough reasons.
A “Circular of Information” prepared by three U.S. blood agencies states on its first page: “WARNING: Because whole blood and blood components are made from human blood, they may carry a risk of transmitting infectious agents, eg, viruses....Careful donor selection and available laboratory tests do not eliminate the hazard.”
Regarding a Canadian study, the Glove and Mail newspaper reported that thousands of blood transfusions involved near-misses be cause of “collecting blood samples from the wrong patient, mislabelling samples and requesting blood for the wrong patient.” Such mistakes cost the lives of at least 441 people in the United States between 1995 and 2001.
No wonder Brian McClelland, director Edinburgh and Scotland Blood Transfusion Service, asks doctors to “remember that a transfusion is a transpland and therefore not a trivial decision.” He suggests that doctors ponder the question,”IF THIS WAS MYSELF OR MY CHILD, WOULD I AGREE TO THE TRANSFUSION?” More than a few health-care workers express themselves as did/one hematologist, “We transfusion-medicine specialists do not like to get or to give blood.” If this is the feeling among some well-trained individuals in the medical community, how should patients feel.?
Many doctors, would agree with medical director Dr. Michael Rose, who says: “Any patient who receives bloodless medicine is, in essence, the recipient of the highest quality surgery that is possible.” The highest quality of medical care--is that not what you would want?
“A growing number of hospitals are offering an alternative: 'bloodless' surgery,” reported THE WALL STREET JOURNAL. “Originally developed to accommodate Jehovah's Witnesses,” stated the journal, “the practice has gone mainstream, with many hospitals promoting their bloodless-surgery programs to the general public.” Hospitals around the word are discovering numerous benefits, particularly to patients, when implementing strategies that curtail the use of blood transfusions. Currently, thousands of doctors are treating patients without resorting to transfusions.
JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES and HEALTH
Jehovah's Witnesses, some of whom are physicians and nurses, are known worldwide for their rejection of transfusions involving whole blood or primary blood components. Does their united stand against this practice stem from a man-made doctrine or a belief that a person's faith can heal medical ailments? That is far from the truth.
Cherishing their life as a gift from God, the Witnesses strive to do their best to live according to the Bible, which they believe is “inspired of God.” That book encourages worshippers of God to avoid practices and habits that harm health or endanger life, such as overeating, smoking or chewing tobacco, abusing alcohol, and using drugs for recreational purposes. (Prov. 23:20; 2 Cor. 7:1)
By keeping our body and surroundings clean and getting some physical exercise for health reasons, we are acting in harmony with Bible principles. When Jehovah's Witnesses get sick, they demonstrate reasonableness by seeking medical care and accepting the vast majority of available treatment options. True, they obey the Bible command to “keep abstaining from ... blood,” insisting on nonblood medical management . (Acts 15:29) And this choice often results in a higher quality of treatment.

those issues of blood has no longer something to do with the Bible. have you ever watched the extremely some people who're in line to grant Blood. a number of them i would not take a tumbler of water from if i grow to be dying of thirst. i comprehend i would not go with there Blood . The Globe and Mail newspaper suggested that 1000's of blood transfusions in contact close to-misses because of the fact of “accumulating blood samples from the incorrect affected person, mislabelling samples and soliciting for blood for the incorrect affected person.” Such errors cost the lives of a minimum of 441 human beings contained in u . s . between 1995 and 2001. people who get carry of blood from yet somebody else face risks particularly reminiscent of those modern technique an organ transplant. Immune responses tend to reject foreign places tissue. in some circumstances, blood transfusions can particularly avert the activation of organic immune responses. Such immunosuppression leaves the affected person at risk of postoperative infections and to viruses that had till now been inactive. that's no ask your self that Professor Ian M. Franklin, quoted on the outset of this text, encourages clinicians to “think of as quickly as, two times and three times till now transfusing sufferers.” Peter Carolan, the senior officer of the international Federation of pink flow and pink Crescent Societies, say: “Absolute ensures on blood components can on no account take transport of.” He provides: “there'll continuously be new infections for which at that 2nd there is not any attempt.” What if a clean infectious agent have been to look—one that, like AIDS, maintains to be in an undetectable provider state for a protracted time and is conveniently transmitted by way of means of blood? speaking at a scientific convention in Prague, Czech Republic, in April 2005, Dr. Harvey G. Klein of the U.S. national Institutes of wellbeing referred to as that prospect sobering. He further: “The blood element creditors could be scarcely greater powerful arranged to interdict a transfusion-transmitted epidemic than they have been in the process the early days of AIDS.” think of roughly this if the healthcare expert suggested to end ingesting or you may die, so which you began injecting it questioning you would be ok , you would be ineffective incorrect. God suggested do no longer consume Blood meaning do no longer take it into your physique, Acts 15:28, 29

I have had two complete blood transfusions. If I didn't I would be dead. What kind of freaky fringe pseudo christian cult do you belong to. One of them that lets their children die because you don't believe in medicine. You people are so wrong and evil.
