I'm about 5'9". How can I approach a hot girl that I want to ask out that is taller than me, while she's with a group of friends, without seeming weird or like I'm stalking her?

don't really talk to her at all. except give her a smile here and there.

Why don't you talk to her the same way you'd talk to a shorter girl?
I'm 5'10" and this issue has come up a lot when I was young and does even now. It really depends on the individual girl. Some don't mind, some do. You won't know until you ask. I personally draw the line at the same height, but again, that's an individual choice.

TRY, Some people like shorter men. If you ask you got nothing to loose. She is pretty tall so she must be used to looking for shorter guys or trying to find someone her height. Have fun and try to ask her out.

It depends on the girl. Girls like men who are confident (but not arrogant) and considerate (but not wussy), in general. Be yourself and talk to her. The worst she can say is "no."
