Yes, anything with carbonation will speed the alcohol to the blood more quickly than a drink without. That is why Champagne will affect you more quickly than wine even if both have the same alcoholic content usually 11-14%.

Beer will affect you just as quickly as a shot of booze even though beer is only 4-5% alcohol and shots are usually 40% alcohol (80 proof).

Carbonation And Alcohol

Yes. The body metabolizes these beverages faster. But the sugar added to most carbonated drinks will give you a worse hangover.

To answer the question below me....beer has some food value to it (the hops and barley) so those complex carbohydrates slow down the absorption of alcohol.

Your intoxication level directly correlates to the Alcohol By Volume (ABV%) level of the drink, your body mass, and the amount of food that you've recently consumed within the last two to three hours.

Carbonation plays ABSOLUTELY NO ROLE in getting drunk faster.

You may wish to consider drinking responsibly though. There are plenty of studies that show too much alcohol consumption does irrepairable damage to the brain.

Besides...a good beer was meant to be enjoyed...not slammed.

I think so, at least in my experience. I know that champagne makes me act silly much faster than regular wine does.

Since there is no such thing as un-carbonated beer (unless you let it sit out too long, but this makes it taste gross), I don't know how you would determine this with beer.

No, it depends on the percentage of alcohol in the drink.
