It really depends on what you're eating, if you're talking about a meal . . . a good full bodied red wine goes really well with beef or lamb, a nice chilled white wine goes with chicken and fish . . then there are special wines that go with special foods . . for example you might want to try a sweet white (sauternes or muscat) with goose liver pate, or even dessert ;. . . it's worth learning a bit more about, because the more you know, the more pleasure you have . . good luck!

Red wines in martinis? Ummmm....ok

People are right, it's about the food. Red wine is traditionally served with red meat while white wine is served with white meat.

For a party or get-together, go for red wine. I know too many people who don't like white wine (not 'fruity' enough for them) but anybody can get behind a really sweet $12 of red wine.

White wine is best with things like beef and pasta, and most red wines are good for making martinis.

I like a sweet white wine. I heard that as you get older you develop a taste for the dryer richer wines.

I prefer White wine, but the Doctors state that red wine is healthier for you (good for the blood pressure, etc) -- has aftertaste to me. But I am being good and 'trying' to order red.

Usually it's red wine with red meat and white wine with fish and poultry. Usually but it's also a matter of taste. You dink it and then decide for yourself.

I prefer white. Red is usually warm, and that just doesn't seem normal to me. :)
Although I have to agree, skip the wine and go for the CAPTAIN!
