Jogging! Because you burn fat and build muscle, while doing crunches you build muscle, but the fat-burning is slower. And you must burn the fat in order for the muscles to show.

You can't "spot burn" fat. Your body is genetically predisposed to deposite fat in certain places. If you want to lose tummy fat, you have to work on losing total body fat, which is generally accomplished through eating a balance of quality protiens, carbs, and fats and exercising; don't eat a ton less; just eat intelligently. You want your net caloric intake is up to 500 calories less than you're currently taking in, i.e. you might eat 250 less calories per day and burn an extra 250 calories per day through exercise. This helps keep your metabolism stoked and helps you healthily lose weight at a pace of 1 to 5 pounds per week.

That aside, doing ab exercises can minimize the appearance of tummy fat. Most people have very little muscle tone in their abdominal muscles, so there's nothing to hold their gut in. Even if you don't have the body fat percentage of a marathon runner, having strong abs will help keep your tummy flat. Additionally, strengthening your abs and adding muscle will help your body naturally burn fat, so they're definitely a good idea.

As for the crunches or sit-ups, crunches are better. A full sit-up has a lot of wasted motion that doesn't benefit your abs at all. Crunches target your upper abdominals (essentially, the top two "cans" of a six pack). You'll want want to also find exercises that target lower abs (from the belly button to the groin), obliques (the muscles around the six-pack), and the transverse abdominis (a deep muscle that wraps around the torso and holds everything in). The musculature of the abdominal region is more complex than that, but focusing on those really what's important.

There are multitudes of exercises for each one, which I won't get into. I personally refer to the The Abs Diet because I've found it to be a scientifically sound, nutritionally balanced eating plan with loads of good ab exercises.

Crunches won't make you lose fat. Crunches and situps (same thing as far as I can tell) help develop the muscles underneath the fat. Contary to popular belief, fat does not BECOME muscle. Fat cells shrink and muscle increases, but they are two separate types of tissue and one does not become the other. You need to watch what you eat, and do cardio to help you lose weight. Then, to develop your muscles, weight training and crunches can help.

PHYTOLACCA BERRY's Mother Tincture is perhaps the safest and sure fire way of loosing excessive fat around abdomen. With Phytolacca Berry once you loose the excessive fat and weight you don't get it back because you body takes care of itself after that and keeps you from gathering up excessive fat. The dosage is 15 to 20 drops of the tincture in half a cup of hot water thrice a day half hour before or after meals.
Avoid Chocolates, Coffee, Mints, Red Meat and Carbonated and Alcoholic drinks while taking Homeopathic Medicines. You have to take it for at least 30 to 45 days after that you start to feel the results.
To the best of my knowledge its the safest and the most sure fire way of loosing fat and weight and keeping it of for keeps. Excellent remedy for Obese people who cant seem to shed weight despite trying.

Read the recommendations below. Also, go to the book store and locate the book "Weight Training for Dummies". In chapter 15 you will find excellent information on how to perform abdominal exercises correctly. Page 218 of the book dispels all the myths surrounding abdominal training.

The following healthy living recommendations will help you if you’re trying to lose weight, tone up your muscles, have aspirations of building lean muscle mass, are attempting to get a wash board stomach, or just want to feel better:

*1) Burn more calories then you're consuming everyday and measure your results using the following formula: Calories Consumed minus Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) minus Physical Activity. Get a diet and fitness calculator that you can put on your computer or cell phone. This will allow you to easily calculate this formula, set goals, log your daily calorie consumption, and register your physical activities.

*2) Eat natural and organic foods found on earth versus something created by a corporation to make money. Eat meals in small portions throughout the day and take a good multi-vitamin supplement.

Avoid “High Glycemic Load Carbs” (sugar, pastries, desserts, refined starches such as breads, pasta, refined grains like white rice; high starch vegetables such as white potatoes) and drink lots of water.

Do not try fad diets or diet pills. Here is an excellent food pyramid that anyone can follow: http://www.rayandterry.com/html/images/PyramidLRG.gif?osCsid=26a424be471d1337e7c2f105d5c64d9d

*3) Exercise on most days by doing cardiovascular training and/or resistance training activities.

Read a book or find a certified trainer to make sure your doing all resistance training exercises correctly. A great book to buy that teaches you the resistance training basics is “Weight Training for Dummies”. *4) Get plenty of sleep. Sleep experts say most adults need between seven and nine hours of sleep each night for optimum performance, health, and safety.

*5) Educate yourself continually on health issues and make a life long commitment to good health. A great free publication is “Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2005”. A superb book to read is “You The Owner’s Manual”. An excellent periodic publication is the “Nutrition Action Health Letter”. I say neither. But if i had to chose one it would be cruches cause its not as hard on your back. Maybe you should try Yoga Zone beginner for Abs. Really really works great I found. Better than doing either listed above.
