B&B=Bed and Breakfast
These are usually privately owned homes where people have opened them up to have guests stay over night. Usually they are historic homes. Then in the morning they usually have some kind of breakfast served in the dining room area with the other guests. These are usually pretty pricey so make sure it is in a place you really want to stay. These are usually booked way in advance as they only have a small # of rooms.

Hostel=These are usually very cheap hotels. About $8-$10 a night or so for bunk beds usually which you share with strangers. I don't think they are very safe, and I would never stay in one, but my cousin stayed in one for awhile in Costa Rica and loved her stay. No breakfast, or anything, you have to provide everything for yourself. No storage for clothing, etc.

Hotel=These are the regular types of hotels that have lots of rooms, you can get different amenities, etc. Some hotels have reward programs where if you stay for so many times you get different discounts through them.

Hope this helped some!!

No, there is no internatioanl chain for B&B's. A Bed and Breakfast means a room in a private home . It can be
a room with a bath or just a room with a bathroom shared by other tourists. A hostel is a lower grade of hotel, you have more people sharing a room or even a private room but with less amenities. Usually if you plan to visit a country you can write in a search engine "B&B in Germany" for instance and you'll get a list. In Germany (just as an example) they do have a site dedicated to vacation apartments all over Europe.

B&Bs (aka Bed-and-breakfasts) were usually original large farm houses or mansions. They are owned by an individual person (not a corporation) or a small group of people. The concept of a bed-and-breakfast is a more comely and human form of a hotel or in. As stated in the title, not only do you sleep there, but they usually offer at least two meals a day included in the price, which is usually more exspensive than a hotel, and much more than a hostel.

A hotel is like what you think of ... big building, floors and floors of rooms, like a Holiday Inn.

A Bed and Breakfast is more like a room at someone's house. Most times there's an en suite bathroom, but sometimes you have to share a bathroom with others.

A hostel is like a dorm ... you could have your own room, but most times you're sharing a room with a bunch of other people.

I don't know of any B&B chain.

yes, many hostels are part of an international hostel organization.

B&B is more expensive and they usually cook your breakfast and it is quaint and nice.

Hostels are the cheapest, you often have to do a chore.
sometimes you are in a dorm area, usually sharing bathrooms.

Motel is usually cheaper than hotel.

Bed and Breakfasts are usually very charming and are often housed in big old houses or cottages. They serve you breakfast in the morning and are often pretty fancy.

Hostels are basically to sleep and shower in. They can be anywhere and usually are "communal". They are a cheap way to travel.
