It is VASECTOMY which is a surgical operation in which the tube that carries sperm to a man's penis is cut, usually as a means of contraception.
As for Castration, mentioned by some as answer to this question, it means to castrate a male animal (not human) by removing its testicles so that it cannot reproduce - usually done to farm animals or domestic animals kept as pets.

There are several words which might be used depending on what exactly you want to say:-
In order to prevent a man being able to make a woman pregnant he is made IMPOTENT by STERILISATION. The precise medical term for the operation that is performed is called a VASECTOMY because the operation involves the cutting and tying off of the tubes which transport the semen to the penis - these tubes are called the "Vas Deferens".
The funny thing is... when I had my vasectomy, the nurse who injected the anaesthetic approached me with the needle and said "...just a little prick..." Never did get to ask her exactly what she meant...

It is called a vasectomy, which involves the doctor snipping the vas deferens, the tube which sperm travels to the guy's private parts. It only takes 20 min. or so to perform the procedure.
