From experience, people do treat you differently when they find out you are an atheist. Usually dumb people that dont know much about diversity or tolerance. Usually they ignore me or pretend I dont exist or treat me condescendingly. Others try to tell me that one day I will be saved or something--which is soo rude.

Yes, just look at what they say about Heaven.

Another person asked would they see their loved ones after death?

The christians responded ... Well yes if you are christian and only if they were christians as well.

The only christian doctrine I really respect is Vatican II's section on entrance into heaven.

It basically said a good person that has NOT heard the word of Jesus will go to heaven since they are a good person.
A good person that HAS heard the word of Jesus but rejected it in favor of another belief will also go to heaven since they are also a good person.

I don't believe in heaven, but if there was a God ?Gods, I do not feel that God/Gods would send good people to hell for not believing a certain way.

humorous difficulty is all of us decide each and every others religious idea. it does no longer be a case of hate, extra so, what human beings are presented up with of their very own relations circumstances. making a decision of a religious decision is an argument for the guy. we received't be all a similar as this isn't a ideal international and neither are we.

I don't feel openly persecuted, but I have met several religious people that are so offended by my choice to believe something else that they now treat me poorly. It doesn't really bother me though, they weren't terribly friendly to anyone, just very "holier than thou" to everyone.

people treat you only as you allow them. I don't blame other for what happens to me, I must be responsible for who I admire and who I choose to relate with. But then again, I'm not messed up by religious teachings either.

No, not at all - Atheism is the normal state where I live (England). It's the religious folks who are seen as rather odd here, and possibly suspect.

Not especially. I think I was treated a lot worse (largely by atheists!) when I was nominally Christian.

People don't treat me poorly, but they seem to feel bad for me, I hear that they will pray for me lots. It is kind of funny.
