Anything that keeps a member of a religion, that is trying to out-breed all other religions from breeding, is a good thing.

It is an unbiblical practice that spurs of the early pagans- that a priest cannot be married. One of the many reasons to invite excommunication from the Roman Catholic Church in favor of the scripturally correct ways into Christianity.
It seems that Paul had something to say about that- as well as much of the Old Testament- the priests of the temple tended towards marriage. Moses was married. Hosea was married and that didn't stop him from being a prophet- let alone a priest! I can say that I wouldn't have preferred Hosea's style of marriage!
God made woman for man.
An those that would condemn that are kicking against Him. No matter how old, or how big that church thinks it is!

There is no scriptural basis for it. If you read Paul's letter to Timothy, it clearly states that a Bishop or Deacon should have only one wife (Polygamy and divorce were very common in the Roman world of that time), and be a good father to his children (biological children, not a figurative father).
The Catholic church did not require celibacy until the 12th Century. In fact, if an Episcopal priest converts to Catholisicm, he is allowed to remain non-celibate.
In other words, it's a bunch of hokum that has poorly served the Catholics. Not only are the number of priests declining, but they're getting older as well. And because of this severe shortage of priests, the Catholic church has become reluctant to throw anybody out of the priesthood. Witness its coverup of child molestation over the past few decades. Finally, when one's knowledge of sex and marriage and raising children is only theoretical, how can one possibly be a good shepherd to one's flock?

I do not wish for married priests. A married man must put his family and his wife first. A celibate priest is free to serve the Church and puts Christ and the Church first. It's very simple. No woman wants to share her husband. A priests job is very demanding it's not like just a weekend job. They are on call 24/7. They celebrate Mass daily. As the Bible says "The unmarried cares about how they may please God. The married care about how they will please their spouse." and" You cannot serve two masters."A man is called to love his wife as Christ loved the Church and to be willing to offer himself up for it." that would make things difficult. Who comes first and who gets to be last?
And I definitely do not want female priests or priestesses. yuck that doesn't even sound right. Christ honored women but He did not choose any female apostles. That and honestly I am a Catholic but I do not want to confess my sins to another woman. Too many of us can't keep a secret. It would be all over the parish before you could say a single "Hail Mary".
I also wanted to add that in Corinthians Paul tells us that to marry is good but to live a celibate life is better. He explains this quite well.Read it if you will.

I dont agree that they should be celebate at all. God created Eve because He saw that it wasnt fit for man to be alone.
Also in 1st Timothy Chapter 3 it says if a man desires a position of a Bishop..... the husband of one wife.
When the bible speaks of 2 masters its talking about the things of this world and God. Who will help out the women, or take nursery. How will the preist follow up couples and reach both of them if he isnt married? The woman was made to complement the man, they lean on eachother. A married man can still give himself to the ministry and to the church. Its having your perspectives in order. First comes your relationship with God, second is your marriage, third is your children and fourth is the church. Reason being? If your marriage is out of order and you cant control your children then how are you an example to the church as a pastor. BUT if those things are in order then you show a great example of how Christ loves the church.

All clergy should have the right to marry. Forbidding someone to have sexual contact goes against the law of nature. All living things have a need to reproduce. That is how God created us, so it seems silly the church would say a priest cannot marry. In the Bible, God tells us to be fruitful and multiply. Is the catholic church going to deny this? The Bible is for all Christians, and should not be interpreted how someone sees fit or convenient at the time.

I always thought that priests should be allowed to marry. How can they give advice about marriage when they have never experienced it. Also it could be a factor in lessening the amount of child abuse within the church which can only be good.

That decision rest solely with the church that requires it. Many churches allow their priest to marry, it is not a Biblical requirement.

Before we starting deciding if priests need to be celibate or not we need to starting asking why women can't be priests.

No they should not. I always laugh at the thought of priests giving marriage advice/counseling. Would you go to your auto mechanic for advice on your health?
