Why do non-believers take things from the Holy Bible out of context and twist it to justify their way of thinking?

God gives you the interpretation. It's those who do not listen who go with their own way of thinking.

Because they cannot fully utilize the Bible because they are not led by the Holy Spirit.

The bible has no context- it is a book of stories and parables, myths and magic, the bible is a tool for spiritual exploration and that, dear, is a very individualized journey for people of all beliefs.

The bible is so far from its origin and so interpreted that the original intent has been shrouded in fear, lies, misconceptions, and more.

If we use the bible to dictate to anyone wether you are a 'believer" (whatever that means) or not we further injure its integrity. The bible - the very contents was voted in by a pagan leader- it is "A" work inspired by God, and also inspired by fear, control, tax dollars, and the "theory" of conversion. Today we use that same "book" as a threat and a dagger toward our fellow brothers and sisters - wow.

I believe what we really need to do is stop looking at the bible for answers and start paying attention to our conscious- we know what is right, good, just! We need to let go of all these "HOLY WARS" - Christian or not- who honestly believes- in good counscious- that we should be angry, hateful, despisory, killing, screaming, or judging one another about GOD? All these people who really think they know what God wants, that is just rediculous- God is not in our image, God does not think as we think or is how we are- WE are expressions of God, not the other way around!!! (wow, how righteous! are 'we' to believe God is as Humans are???) Is God not grander, purer, lighter, essential, is God not the source of all things, does God not know us each and as we are of God does God not adore a one of us? How can we imply or simplify such? How can we decide based on a writ of word what God really wants when we deny one another in God's name, how more can we be in denial of the grandiosity than to refuse Gods expression of diversity, varying religions, homosexuality, magick, all things of love and kindness?

Why are there so many religigions using the same Bible? Why do hate groups use the Bible?

The truth is every religigion takes certain parts out of thier Bible or justifies why some parts are in there. Oh, Jesus we wrote the laws. You are misinterpreting that ect. ect.

The truth is I can quote a Bible verse and keep it in conext, but then you would find an excuse for it.

Yes, I do not believe in the Bible word for word. I have red it many times. However I do believe it is based on truth.

Any and all scriptures (the Bible being only one) have been used and mis-used to justify all types of agendas. It is not fair to say 'non-believers'...since this also pertains to 'believers' as well. Faith and belief are very personal conditions which have not context that is mutually applicable. By 'their way of thinking', I have to assume that you're saying 'different' than your own...that does not make it wrong any more than it makes yours the 'right' way. If you believe in the Bible, no amount of persuasion or ridicule should be enough to shake your faith, therefore 'their' twisting of the text should have no affect on your reliance on it for spiritual guidance. So, try not to fret over this observance.

It's called "religion." Man has always tried to justify his sins and actions with his own hands. Remember Adam and Eve? The commited the first act of religion when they attempted to cover their nakedness with fig leaves. God killed the goat to make their clothing to show them that because they had allowed sin to enter into their lives that only a blood sacrifice would properly cover their sins in body and spirit. Non-believers (unfortunately) are not the only ones doing this! The great reformers and churches down through the centuries have picked the Bible to the bone, claiming everything from lack of understanding to being given "unique direction of interpretation from God." I don't deny the possibility of these things happenening, but we're taught in Scripture to "lean not to thy own understanding." This is how the denominations were created. I believe we all have a PIECE of the truth, but not all. Otherwise, how can we explain the situation the Church is in concerning faith? John says that there is "ONE Lord, ONE faith, ONE baptism, ONE God and Father of all who is above all, through all, and in you all." If this is true and what God intended, why do the denominations exist and why are there so many "interpretations" of the Bible floating around today?
We are warned that in the last days that "men would heap teachers unto themselves having itching ears." This tells me that we need to be on our guard even more than ever!

Dont you do the same thing? You didnt write the bible yet you justify your way of thinking through scripture and verse. Maybe your the one taking things out of context. To truly understand the context, you have to first study the history of the region that the bible was written in.

I think you answered your own question. The Bible is such a large book with so many different sayings that it is easy to take it out of context. People do this all the time because they are trying to prove to themselves and others that God believes the way they do about a certain topic.

Human nature. Adam and Eve started this type of action. They justified eating of the tree and living and ruling themselves, separate from God. Same thing today, believers and non-believers alike twist the scriptures to condone war, homosexuality, fornication, greed and sexual appetite.

For example, some believers will say porn is okay, however the bible says at Romans 1 :24-27 that God gave up individuals that practice sexual appetite and homo sexuality. Porn is sexual appetite.

But, I am not the judge and I am not going to act like one. But God is and he will take care of all those that twist the scriptures to fit their lifestyle.

Some do it to try and invalidate the Bible's message, it makes them feel smart. It amazes me how hard some of them work! Gee, I hope they get some payoff for digging so much. Maybe they'll stumble onto something. I doubt it though. Only the Holy Spirit can open up the treasures that are there. God doesn't cast His pearls either.

Why do "true believers" take things from the Bible out of context and twist it to justify their way of thinking? It works both ways, sweetie.

Why do believers do the exact same thing? It's what they want to see and believe, yeah that is blind and ignorant but they are not worth your time anyway. Walk away gracefully.

My ex would twist everything in the bible constantly making ridiculous claims, I'm not religious but If he was going to believe in something I wanted him to understand it first. Alas his ignorance ruined our relationship..Now I try not to associate with anyone who will be speaking of religion, unless I feel like arguing of course.
