Start giving him treats occasionally (for good behavior only) and he'll learn to associate you with something he likes. Then you'll be his best friend.
My pug does the same with my boyfriend and I. Whoever fed him dinner and the most treats gets his undivided attention.

I bet your mum feeds him and normally takes him for walks right? And you probably stroke him and give him more attention than your mum does.
The same happens with my pets (dog and cat)- it's because your dog thinks that you are lower in the 'pack' than him. Your mum is in charge, she is the one who brings food, whereas you stroke him so he thinks you are beneath him in the pecking order. This means that when he wants attention he goes to the leader of the pack.
Try being more aloof around him for a while- don't go to him for strokes, wait til him comes to you (be patient!). And ask your mum if you can be responsible for feeding him, or at least putting the bowl down on the floor at dinner time. If you're interested in all this, try reading up on dog/animal behaviour on the internet.

Your Mum is head of the household and your dog has accepted second place in the family hierarchy. If you try too hard to get them to like you, dogs just see you as subserviant and sumissive.
You can change your dogs attitude but it would involve your Mum being offhand with her dog, and you taking over his daily care such as feeding, grooming and excersise. You can't expect him to like you just because you are there.
And dogs do feel emotions such as like and love; emotions are the trigger for instinctive behaviour; they are the releaser. Without emotions they would be unable to react or act on instinct; they don't have verbal language so how else is nature supposed to instruct them how to act?
They have the same endochrine and hormone systems as us, the same central nervous system. Take adrenaline from a dog and inject it into your blood; you'll get an adrenaline rush.
Emotions make animals care for and protect their young and their territory, they are not blank machines.

Depending on the type of dog, if you want them to show you more affection then you have to become their number one. The person who spends the most time with them is most likely to win their heart. Try always being the one to feed, groom and play with them. Pretty soon they will love you to pieces.

If your mom is the main one taking on the responsibility of the dog, such as feeding , training, then it will feel as if shes the owner and not you. If thats not the case then try special treats.

I expect that it is because your mum feeds him and probably spends more time with him, you should feed him from now on, and take him out with you every day for a nice long walk, he will soon love you.

Try giving him treats. But only if he's good. Try to give him some TCL (Tender Loving Care). That's what I did to my hamster, and my hamster was always happy when I played with him! (But it could be different for a dog.)

well my daughters dog always sat with me at night while we all watched tv. i think it is the grandma thing.
but at he always went to her room and slept in her bed. he knew when she was coming up the driveway and would get real happy and jump up in the window to wait for her.
dogs know who their owner is and are more loyal to that person.but they also know who it is that bring the food to their bowl and keeps water there. each person in your home has a different role for your dog and he knows that.
do you cuddle with your dog and take him for walks give him treats?
i don't think it is anything to worry yourself about he knows you are his.

Maybe take him on walks, give him treats, and good belly rubs. If he sees that you're the one giving all the attention, he'll probably warm up to you.
