But I have yet to see one that suggests we make men accountable for the babies that aren't aborted? Seems O.K to demand that women give their men notice of any decision regarding her body, but the number of single moms and children on welfare is an even larger problem. How about men take care of the ones that are born first? You want to lower the abortion rate, use birth control, and don't get girls pregnant when you don't want to have children.

amazing...most of you still ultimately blame the woman, but feel the men should have a say. Excuses for deadbeat dads, but the woman shouldn't have gotten pregnant by him. Really interesting. By the way, they did have a welfare to work program for moms on welfare, but no, men have never had to work or go to jail.

deadbeat dads are saints, compared to women who abort. This is incredible. O.K. for men to take off, and leave the woman. She makes a choice, and he's a saint for not dealing with his responsibility at all. Do you guys listen to yourselves?

therandman...you need to read the details. You didn't answer my question. I don't want to talk about a man's rights, I want to talk about a man's responsibilities. It doesn't surprise me that you are another one who wants to promote a man's rights, while simultaneously blaming a woman for getting pregnant.

It takes a Y chromosome to make a child a boy, it takes a man's sperm to get a woman pregnant, it takes a woman's committment, and body, to make a baby.

more ignorance, but here goes. therandman, not all babies are boys. Men carry both, his X AND his Y contribute to the genetic makeup of the baby. And since you didn't know, egg splicing has occured, making it possible for two women to have a baby without a man's contribution. They will only produce female offspring, since women don't carry the X chromosome. ANd just because you say the same thing everyone else says, doesn't make you right, just a mob mentalist, which I already knew about you.

Oh your right... Men's live aren't ruined by the woman's choice at all.
First of all, it takes two to make a baby. I'm sure we can agree on that right???
Second, if it the actions of two, how an it be a choice of one?
A man has to sit by and see what the woman will do. If she wants to absolve her self of the responsibility, she can, and the man is safe.
However, if she doesn't want to, the man is forced to live with HER choice for the rest of his life. I agree that he should have to, and most men do. If a man is proved to be the father of a child and he doesn't pay child support he has to live his life pretty much underground, as he should, he can't buy a house or have a legitimate job with out being garnished so he can't get any kind of financing from any source other than Freddy the Leg Breaker, ( I am a Mortgage Broker and see the judgments that deadbeat dads have on their credit, different than just a delinquent account, which pretty much disqualifies them from getting financed for anything until the judgments are paid).
The point is that if a person doesn't see it as being a life or death choice, weather or not you are killing a baby, then you have to point it out as a matter of convenience, after all that is what it is about. It would simply be an inconvenience (all be it, a major one) to the mother and father to have a child at that time. If the woman can make a "choice to end her inconvenience, why can't the man? I hear all the time about dead beat dads and how terrible they are but to my reasoning as terrible as abandoning a child you do not want could be, it doesn't even come close to killing it.
Men who are dead beats don't have an easy life. they don't just go on living life the way women do when they make the choice to end their responsibility. If the woman ends her responsibility with or without the mans input she can and does go on about her life as though nothing happened and is free to make the same mistake over and over, (many of them do) without any consequences. If the man wants to do the same thing he has to get the woman's o.k. or he'll have to live his life outside the law, Work under the table, Not being able to buy anything unless it is in someone Else's name (because the state could take it if the woman pushed hard enough) not have any way to retire because he never put anything into social security because he was working under the table, or have any substantial savings accounts, the state can seize them also. Not to mention possible jail time. You can't tell me that is an easy life -never,owning anything, sometimes not even being able to rent an appartment in your name, having to rely on others good graces, and having to work under the table till you die- All because another person has the ability to make the "Choice" that would affect more than just herself. Women should stop acting like a victim when you BOTH made a choice to have sex yet only YOU have the choice of how to deal with the consequences.
Please don't take this the wrong way... I think all things visited upon the dead beat dads should be, My point is that women should not have a choice any more than a man has one.
Abortion is not a constitutional right, it was a precedence set by activist judges and will soon be overturned, If not for the reasons of killing a baby then by reason of inequality.
For the record, I adopted my 6 yr.old son because his donor is a dead beat, so don't think I feel sorry for them, its just that compared to the women who abort a child they are saint's in my book.

While I agree with your point of view, I don't agree that it's a reason for an abortion. There are cases that I agree with it, such as rape, incest, and when it's at the cost of the mother's life. Other than that, I say grow up and deal with the consequences of your actions. It's not just men who aren't around after the child(ren) are born, it's mothers too. Men are taking a more active role in parenthood, often being single parents. As a mother of three, single for most of the time, I don't believe that it's a reason for killing your own child. I also have to agree with the answer before me saying what about the men that are never given the option? You should think things through more before making blanket statements like the one you just did. Good luck.
Actually, if you knew anything about the child support laws, you would know that men DO go to jail for not paying their support. These laws were made so that the deadbeat dads are punished. Even now they are changing those laws so that single mothers get what is owed to them. While this is never going to completely change them not paying, it is a huge effort and deterrent. Also, they can get their driver's licenses suspended. It just depends on where you live and what the laws there are. There you go again talking out your behind without knowing what you're talking about.

Do you mean men who impregnate women then become upset when the woman decides to have an abortion without asking him? Probably because it's half his baby too...and he should have a say in the matter. Ultimately, unfortuntately, it's left up to the woman. I don't think there's anything a man can do when his girlfriend/wife/hooker has made up her mind to have an abortion.
Do you mean politicians? That I don't know...
As for the men who are deadbeat dads...Well, that's truly unfortunate. How many men do you know (or know of) who are good, decent, hard working Americans who refuse to pay childsupport? Most of the cases I'm aware of are punk teenagers or lazy alcoholics or someone similar who wasn't in a loving relationship in the first place, knocked their girlfriends up, then took off. While it is true that these men, no matter how scummy they are, are still responsible, maybe women should be a little more careful when deciding who they should open their legs for...

I'm almost in agreement with you. I think men should take responsibillity for the children produced by their actions, but I also think they have a say in whether or not their child will be killed. The child is a product of both the mother and the father and both have rights. It is just as much the woman's responsibillity to use birth control as it is the man's, so don't blame it all on the guy. Ideally, you should abstain from sex before marriage. That would elliminate a lot of out-of-wedlock children.

Well, if I was the father I would feel for the young one that is a part of me but hasn't come out yet. These decisions are for women - that is right.
But men like to be consulted since we feel that somehow we are a part of the process that made it happen.
The opportunity and possibility of LIFE which came from a loving union just is so hard to forego. That life also came from the man, at least he should know.
If you aren't a Christian don't listen to what I just said. Tarry ho! I'll even help you dump the little bag of organic material onto the trash.

Because genetics and nature dictates that it takes a Y chromosome to create life. If the life was created by 2 consenting adults then 1/2 of the life has his genetic codes - therefore he should have something to say about the choice. This might upset you but this is a 2 way street. Maybe if the woman choose her bed partners better then she wouldn't be in a position to choose. Maybe if the woman choose to to save herself for marriage - she won't be presented with a choice. Finally BOTH consenting adults need to practice safe sex and neither will have to make a choice.

How about women making the choice to have children in a legal union like marriage so they can know who the fathers are and hold them financially accountable if they divorce? Seems like women don't realize the value of fathers for their children and they should. They get themselves into these situations, if you can't stand the heat stay the heck out of the kitchen.
Also men should realize that the most important thing they can do for their child is to love it's mother.

If you try to look at this rationally (using the correct head) and appy some common sense then your answer might appear very easily. Your ex is an ex for a reason. Obviously, her beauty and fantastic bedroom skills weren't enough to keep you around the first time, so I very seriously doubt it will be enough the second. Not to mention the fact that beauty fades, inevitably taking the primary reason you married the woman along with it. After that, then what will you have?

Let me ask you this? Why is it the welfare mothers never give up the name of the father? That's right...No check!
But ya, it takes two to tango, the deadbeats should be held accountable at every stage.
Besides, the choice occurs in the bedroom, not in the doctors office.
