I can't imagine a scenario where anything other than face-to-face would be appropriate for therapy as the therapist need to be able to read the non-verbal ques as much as the verbal one...to try to do so any other way seems like it would be a violation of ethics.

I would definitely consider counselling if I had a problem to work through. What form would depend on the nature of the problem, if it is confidential, I would prefer phone based, otherwise face to face, but not web based, because i do not feel confident in online security and what pple would do with my personal information

Yes, I like the face to face thing the best. It is much more personable than the others. Although if circumstances couldn't allow you to do face to face, then I would go for the phone kinds. I have done both. Both are nice, but I would prefer the face to face personally.

Good luck to you and your study!

Be careful what you tell a councelor. Whatever you say can be documented in your medical files and it will follow you for the rest of your life. Some companys even require you to give them permission to read your medical records before they will hire you. You don't have to sign over permission, but they don't have to hire you either. If you do need to share some questionable information, pay cash for a pre-paid cell phone and use a fake name. Then use that cell phone to call a phone councelor. That is the only way to avoid the information you give coming back to sting you in the butt later in life.

looked in the mirror face to face with my self got off my **** and did some thing to solve the problems
now that is not going to solve many peoples problems only those that feel sorry for them selves
phone is to impersonal

i'm currently in counseling. i have 2-hour in office sessions each monday. i may need to start going in twice a week. i'm 23. i think i put off admitting that i wasn't coping for way too long until i finally decided to make the call. i work in a counseling office, ironically, so i think everyone could benefit from therapy and am all for it.

For serious counseling face to face is the only way to go.

Face to face works best for me. I tried it a long time ago, and it really helped.
