the NVA used PT-76 light tanks in the DMZ and western border areas at least once and there were sighting elsewhere.

Maybe during the Tet Offensive when they came out into the open to fight. Vietnam was a country not suited for armor so I doubt NVA troops had much access to it since they mostly operated in the jungles where armor didn't get around good. Also the US had massive military assets for conventional war and I'm sure they would bomb any armor when discovered.

I do know however the NVA did use armor in 1975 during the final assult against ARVN forces and the final capture of Saigon.
