You as a person should speak whatever language you choose...but you should not demand government services in any language other than English.
I understand the point you're making....CA was established as a Spanish language land, but once it became a part of the U.S. it needed to adopt the language of the nation it belonged to.

Is anyone stopping you speaking Spanish in California?? For me, I speak English ... :) Now if you want to communicate with authorities, vote, etc., well ... then finally realize that this is the United States now, where the majority speaks English ... like it or lump it ....

Not unless you want the 15% of the companies that make 95% of the revenue for the state of California to leave the state.

You're joking, right? Evolvement occurs which hopefully brings good change. I, for one, am happy to be living in the US and I'm also proud to be an English speaking individual in an English speaking nation.

Should everyone be Christian because the founding fathers of this country were Christian? Should we own slaves because the founding fathers of this country owned slaves?
The answer to these questions is no.
You should speak any language you want. Although I do agree we do have to have one common langauge, but not an official national one.

we should speak whatever language we understand.....
language is a means to communicate..... there are many means to communicate be it verbal or non-verbal..... and a language, any language, should not have a value placed on it!!!!!
English is not better than Spanish, dutch, German, Yiddish, or any other language around the world.... people need to stop talking about this English only crap: this close-minded thinking only creates: ethnocentrism, reductionism, xenophobia, and euro centrism!!!!!!
