I straighten my hair almost every day but I do not want to damage it so much. I have seen products that you put on your hair before straightening it to protect it from frying. Which of these works really well and is affordable? I don't really want to spend a lot of money.

I straighten my hair all the time
and can tell you from experience that,
if you don't do anything else,
at least take this advice:
Buy only products from beauty/hair salons.
Nothing from Walmart or stroes in that nature.
(Those are cheap in price and in performance!)
I have tried the "Silk Therapy" from Biosilk,
which is really popular.
But it's really oily so you'll only want to use a little bit.
I really don't reccomend it because alcohol
is in part of the ingredients,
which can dry out your hair even more.
I've also tried "soya want flat hair" by healthy sexy hair.
This one is a spray which is pretty cool
but again, less is more.
It makes your hair hard and sticky
like a firm-hold hairspray
so your have to brush most of it out
in order to have touchable hair.
My all time favorite is the
"soft finish spray" from Graham Webb.
Graham Webb's entire line is heat-activated.
It's very healthy for your hair and,
best of all, it leaves your hair super soft
without adding any heaviness from the product.
An extra tip is this:
to really protect your hair,
you want to make sure the flat iron
you use is ceramic.
The best flat iron that I've ever used
and currently own today is a Chi.
High-quality and professional,
it's about $100.
But it's a lot better for you than the $20 brands.
Releases heat evenly and works much faster.
You will see a difference after only your first time!
If you don't want to pay $100, try Ebay
because they will most likely have great discounts.
Have fun! :)

My stylist really recommends the Paul Mitchell Spray Wax (I think about $25 but I have long hair and it lasts about 4 months). Just a little bit on your hair before using the Chi Iron. Also-- make sure you're using a ceramic iron as opposed to the others if you really want to reduce the damage caused by straightening. I used to put the flat iron on mine everyday, but since I'm trying to have healthy hair for my wedding, I've reduced it to a few times a week.

I too straighten my hair everyday and I use a great heat protection spray from V05....it is in a red spray bottle....actually I use V05's whole hair care line. But you just spray the heat protection on before you blow-dry your hair and then style as usual...it really works great!!

Because of the haircut I have, I have to flat-iron my hair everyday. As a result, I use the Infusium 23 Spray-on Leave-In Conditioner and it keeps my hair moisturized.

Nexxus has one that I use. Heat Protexx heat protection styling spray. It works wonders because I don't get breakage nor extreme dryness.
