Sometimes the old fashion way is the best...in this case I think it is. It's like opening your Christmas present before Christmas, I've never heard anyone who is disappointed when they didn't find out. In fact, I know many who planned on not finding out with the first child but finding out with the second and they loved the surprise so much they didn't want to know with their second. I think the woman should make the ultimate call considering we are the ones carrying the baby, laboring etc.

Surprises are nice, but really, if your are going to buy stuff in advance, or decorate the baby's room, you don't want to paint the walls pink, buy lots of pretty dresses, and find out it's a boy. And your friends will want to get the baby stuff before you squeeze it out. Go ahead and find out the sex, you'll be better off that way. It's not like you'll love it any less.

It depends on the situation
I found out I do not like surprises and I couldn't wait
but we also did not have any money when we had our children so it helped to prepare for there arrival

we were also able to decorate the rooms

my cousin is having twins and she never wanted to know until she realized that it would be nice to know seeing as she already had to purchase everything in duplicate it (she is having a boy and a girl
so I guess what I am saying is it can help but it does take away an element of surprise

Sure. Before I was pregnant, I thought I would want it to be a surprise - but, once I was pregnant, I couldn't wait to find out the sex. It also helps in knowing how to decorate the baby's room and what kind of clothes to buy.

It depends on you and your partner. My hubby and I wanted to know so we could settle on a name and make sure we had appropriate clothing for our baby. But a friend of mine and her hubby weren't going to find out, because they wanted to be surprised. Until they found out they were having twins. Then they decided to learn the sex, but to surprise the family with the babies' names at birth.

I think, after having found out with my first one, that knowing is the best way to go, and when it comes time for baby number two, we will find out again. Especially since if we should have another girl, we're set on clothing. It's totally up to you and don't let your families pressure you to do something you don't want to.

Um, yeah, especially if the baby room is painted pink from the last tenant. There was pink wallpaper in the baby room of the house that we bought before getting pregnant the first time. Luckily, we had girls with both pregnancies. When we moved, our girls were toddlers. The baby room is painted yellow & green. The previous owners of the house were expecting a boy. But, lucky for us, my 2 year old daughter went into that baby room & claimed it! She loves yellow! And, it looked great with her Lion King bedding.

For me, finding out I was having a girl made her seem more real to me. Being pregnant is weird sometimes because you know the baby is there but it is odd since you cannot see them. Now I can call her by her name instead of saying it all the time.

It depends. Some people have their reasons for finding out, and some people would rather wait. I didn't want to know, personally, but some people would rather know so they can go out and get all boy or all girl things rather than unisex, or maybe if they need to figure out room arrangements if they have more kids in the family. I don't think either way is necessarily good or bad.

Yes!
That way you can prepare for it!
If you know the sex of your baby,
you can use your pregnacy months
more efficiently because you will know
exactly what colors to buy
when you set up the baby room,
buy clothes and other necessities,
and have your baby shower.

For your own peace of mind, why not? I don't think there is anything wrong with being prepared for the arrival of a baby knowing what sex it is. It makes it a lot easier when you have the baby, you are already calling him or her by name before they ever enter this world. They know their name before they are ever born. Sounds like a win/win to me!
