I know it's a really daft question but my adorable pooch (a very large and playful Irish Setter) turns a whole one year old on Monday and i would like to get her something really nice, either a new toy or a yummy treat.

Don't get me wrong she does have plenty of toys and gets her share of treats but I would like to get her something really special.

Does anyone have any ideas; I live in the UK.

You're not nuts-you just love your dog! My dogs are picky, so recommending a toy is difficult.

But, for our dog's bdays, we spoil them with their own cake. I get a small can of dog food-not the chunk or stew kind- and open both ends to push it out. I put it on a plate and this serves as the "cake". I melt about 3 spoonfulls of creamy peanut butter in the microwave for about 15 seconds and pour it over the "cake" for frosting.

The dogs LOVE it! Happy Birthday to your Irish Setter!

Do you know what a KONG is they are very sturdy almost indestructable rubber hollow toys that you can fill with peanut butter, yogurt and other treats. They love them and spend hours working out the goodies.
If not in the UK try ebay
I got my dogs doggy ice cream for their b-day they loved it!

There are recipes for doggie birthday cake. Make her one and take pictures of her eating it, like a kids first birthday. Maybe take her to a special park. I actually took mine to lunch. We went to the park and ate huge cheeseburgers, and vanilla milkshakes! I really think she enjoyed that.

For my dog's birthday me and my boyfriend gave her a HUGE long dog bone. It was almost as long as she is! She loved it and it kept her entertained for a long time! :)

Happy birthday to your dog. I knew I wasn't the only one that celebrated that. lol
