Max A/C just recycles the air that is cool in your car and cools it further. Regular A/C brings in air from the outside and cools it.

You have gotten a lot of partially correct answers.
The max A/C setting does two things:
1. the ballast resistor to the fan motor is bypassed to increase the fan speed and...
2. The air intake from the outside is closed, recycling the inside air.
Almost all cars marked "max A/C" work this way. Some cars have only a recylce position that does not affect fan speed, but they are not labled "max A/C".

In the A/C mode your vehicle A/C runs and brings in fresh air from the outside thru a duct near the bottom of the windshield area.In the Max A/C mode the this fresh air intake is closed and the air inside your vehicle is recirculated. There is no change in the fan speed but it does sound different when you first switch positions.

Max A/C is probably the recirculation feature. Rather than drawing warm air from the outside to circulate, it recircs the cabin air. This is good for allergy suffers if there is an in-cabin filter.

A/C pull hot air from outside and cools it off, so the a/c has to work more and the air isn't as cold.
Max means it circulates the air inside the car and keeps cooling it with less effort.
Regular a/c is more or less for people who smoke inside the car to pull fresh air in from outside.

A/C brings in outside air and possibly other vehicles exhaust, while Max A/C only recirculates the air inside your vehicle.

After reading so many responses most from people that have no idea what they are talking about they have me confused the more I listen to them the dumber I get. Your owners manual explains it and tells you how to use what setting so get it out and read it a couple of people probably have it right but how can you know who is correct.

Max cold takes air from inside your car and recools it and A/C takes air from outside and cools it which is harder to do,hence it runs the fan slower.

The max setting speeds the fan up it has nothing to do with the temperature.
