I'm going to have a look at TV cards, I don't even know what one looks like or how much they cost, but as I am moving out temporarily, I would like to have access to TV.

If you're a student living in rented accomodation it says you need a licence of your own.

Frankly though they probably can't pick up what you're viewing on your laptop screen so there's no reason to let them have access to your laptop. If there's a TV license for the house (the address must be for the house and not individual rooms or flats) and anyone from the TV License board asks, you're all immediate family ;-)

hi, till someone lives the position there are not any such issues as television licences then i do not get why you're literally not believed. I stay in eire and an same regulation applies and that is: any gadget that can settle for a television unmarried desires a licence. So even once you've a television sitting in a cloth cabinet not getting used, technically you nevertheless want a licence. So paying for a television card for a workstation without delay makes your workstation a television and so desires a licence. I genuinely ought to assert although that television licencing in the united kingdom is a lot fairer than in eire. distinct the money from television licences is going into funding the BBC and kudos to them that they have a coverage of no merchandising. compared to, the following the position the nationwide station RTE receives money from television licences and yet also shows an same ad ratio as say ITV/UTV. playstation Forgot about the cookie area to you question, which 86er less than has pronounced, those are used for having visited the area not the setting up of the cardboard. And purely had a glance on the licencing web site for the united kingdom: Do i want a licence? you want a television Licence to apply any television receiving equipment jointly with a television set, set-correct boxes, video or DVD recorders, pcs or cellphones to observe or record television programmes as they are being shown on television. thanks 86er for showing me up ;) Thumbs up

Yes.

Do I need a licence?
If you use a TV or any other device to receive or record TV programmes (for example, a VCR, set-top box, DVD recorder or PC with a broadcast card) - you need a TV Licence. You are required by law to have one.

How much does it cost?
A colour TV Licence costs £131.50 and a black and white licence costs £44.00.

I think so yes
I am basing that on the fact that during the world cup you needed a licence to watch the football online.

Although having said that you dont need a licence for a hand held tv

Youre best bet is to phone the bbc licence place and ask them

I think you only need one license for each address at which you're TV's at. If you'll only be watching TV on your computer, then you'll need a license. If however, you have a normal TV too (where you'll be living), then you need a license for that TV. Check out the TV licensing website for clarification.
