As long as politicians accept gifts and campaign funds from the big oil companies they will never pass funding for alternative fuel sources.

NOPE
we contradict ourselves on this issue - we sort of try to clean things up in our area BUT then we buy stuff that is made in China in massive ammounts (consuming junk we dont even need, knick knacks and stuff) CHina does not have good pollution controls and often you cannot even see the sun in China - or very far in front of you....
we drive big gas guzzlers and use air conditioning when we know it contribues to global warming

BUT THE WORST THING WE DO - is continue to over populate the planet with more people - we really need to put population controls in place because every person more is a person that will in some way contribute to the problems... nobody is leaving a zero foot print - every day we create some sort of foot print - so less people would obviously be a step in the right direction

No I do not think enough is been done at all. Western people take for granted the life we lead. Politicans and big business do not care about the planet. Global warming will continue so long as people are filled with greed!

No, business rules, and government follows. Greed being the nature of the game, and nature suffers overall, and we long term as individuals can do a little each day to help out. David Suzuki, talked about this topic more than a month ago, and it's obvious the media is the reason it keeps the debate going without sanity being used to logically solve a problem that corporations don't want to do, loose profit for the sake of their pocket book. He didn't say what I have written but it is obvious that the science is there to prove it, and the government needs to do make business clean up it's act. However, long term, go to his web site....and read about it...Nature itself is reacting to the damage done, and the climate itself will eventually fix the problem by causing more damage to resolve the issue. Floods, ice cap melting, and poof, no more problem.

I guess it depends on whether you believe it's happening in the first place... some people seriously think it's a political issue that some people are using as a way to discredit others, saying that the incumbent candidate doesn't have a track record of environmental action or something, because they don't take global warming seriously. For those who treat global warming as established fact, the answer to your question is no -- we still depend heavily on the burning of fossil fuels to run our power plants, heat our homes, and make our vehicles go, in addition to large-scale burning of forests to clear them for cropland on a global scale. Each individual needs to take action on this issue if they feel strongly about it -- write your representatives expressing your opinion and asking for more action, and take steps in your own life to reduce consumption of goods and resources, to lower your energy footprint on the planet.

Global warming is a cyclical event that continues over centuries. But, we've certainly helped to speed up the process in the past century with all of our air pollution, mismanagement of waste, and the lack of any comprehensive recycling plan.
So, we'll go on tossing our trash in a handy roll-out dumpster so someone can pick it up and bury it in a landfill. And we'll keep on polluting the air with automobiles that aren't fuel-efficient. And we'll muck up our streams and rivers and oceans with human garbage and oil wells. And life will be beautiful for us....on grandchildren and great-grandchildren will have to deal with the mess we left them. Too bad..... -RKO-

no I believe that we are not doing enough to slow down global warming due to the fact that many of us still believe that the effects of global warming will never effect us personally.

There is little to no pollution control in developing countries like China and India. Global warming will continue to increase.

Global warming is in theory reversable, but it will mean global co operation between all countries ,and taking into account human nature and the world politics ,it is unlikely that this will happen,

At least not untill we are all in the middle of planetary disastres and it becomes a battle for the survival of humanity every where.

However
Almost all governments in the first world and many others who deal with them, are already working on this for a long time ,
In Mexico many farmers are being persuaded Agro forestall farming which includes trees ,like shade grown coffee

and many countries like Germany and the USA ,for example have made heavy commitments to reduce carbon emissions
Countries like Australia ,Denmark,USA and South Africa to name but a few are spending a lot on alternative energies ,

but all of this is still far to slow
greed to further exploit the petrolium business prevents fast positive advancement

SOLUTIONS
if you want to help the planet ,plant a tree every week ,if EVERYONE on the planet did this, we would be able to reverse the destructive processes, and start creating more biomass again.

reduce carbon emisions, and they are already working on that by alternative forms of energy and regulations on carbon producing materials, aerosol cans, burning rubbish, industrial chimneys, powerplants etc.

the world bank pays large subsidies for reforrestation to capture carbon and the best tree for this is the Pawlonia

Waterharvesting projects ,such as millions of small dams.to redirect over ground waterflows from the rains into the ground to supply subteranian water supplies.

the protection of existing forrests.and the production of water

stop building more highways, urban planning to include vegetation stop building cities encourage people to return to the land to conduct their business from there which now has become possible thanks to the internet.

education to motivate people to auto sufficiency by building more home food gardens.

education on environmental awareness
education on family planning to curb over´population

Agricultural education and improvements to follow the principals or sustainability and soil management.

more land design to prevent bush fires, such as--fire breaks

regulations and control for public behaviour

alternative effeciant public transport to discourage the use of the internal conbustion engine

recicling wastes,limit water use

.

no - we still have to stop volcanoes from erupting - they put more stuff in the air in 1 day than all the cars since they were invented
