Absolutely. And not because I want to know if my child is doing drugs, but to know that she is safe with the other children going to school with her.
At my job, people are randomly selected for drug testing -- why not at school? Drugs are ILLEGAL -- I think people forget that. They're illegal for me, illegal for you, and just as illegal for under aged children still in school.
Most schools have security guards, some have police officers or even police or sheriff substations in or around the campus. Lockers and cars can be searched at anytime by staff, police....some schools have drug sniffing dogs that sweep the schools from time to time. What's the difference in having a random drug test?
Think about this: The principal, under their rights, searches a student's locker under a suspicion of drug possession. Drugs are found, and then the police come in and sweep the entire school's lockers for drugs and find even more. I most kids' minds, what lesson is learned? Don't bring drugs to school. Whereas if a drug test was administered under a suspicion of drug usage...the test was positive...and more tests were given as a result and many kids were kicked out of school for USING drugs...what would the lesson be? Don't do drugs, period.
So, in short -- ABSOULTELY YES! I think there should be random drug testing in schools. Do I think it'll happen? Probably not. There will be too many people whining about "rights" and "privacy." But, you know what? I think my daughter should have the right of safety! Why should I have to send my daughter to school next to a kid strung out on drugs planning on doing who-knows-what because my wanting of random drug testing is infringing on his right to do drugs and try not to get caught?

I don't see why not. They do physical fitness tests, the do SOL tests. Drug tests should be done, too.
When these kids get out into the big bad world of work, there are jobs that require drug tests before you can be hired. School is, in a way, preparation for the working world.
But of course, there are those who will fight at all cost to claim or prove their child's not on drungs, they will hire a lawyer and sue the school the system, the school nurse, administrators...but they won't admit that their little angel may be using drugs.

So you want to make teachers across the country force underage, unconsenting kids to urinate on command, and have that sample taken without warrant or subpoena to be tested for illegal drugs that could cause them to face criminal charges?
Should we just slice out the parts of the United States Constitution that don't coincide with the laws we make for the purpose of convenience? Why not... I'm sure you won't mind when the cops are legally justified to grab you off the street and take you to get drug tested.
Schools are not jails. They don't have the manpower of the authority to drug test our children. Getting the schools to properly document and report suspected drug users to the PROPER authorities is much more reasonable.

No. How about privacy invasion, you are forcing kids to go to school now you are forcing them to take drug tests, whats next monitoring their thoughts?
Another thing is that it would cost a lot of money and do very little good. Why not spend that money on better education programs or scholarships so they can get in to college and have a chance at a good life.

definitely no!!!! I think drug education should be a factor in all schools though. This idea is just another stick to try and whip someone and then claim you were doing good - bah!

Sure. The school system tells the students what they can wear, what they can say, etc. Why not tell them that they can't do drugs?
