i agree. it is so ridiculous to blame the problems on immigrants because they are not the problem at all. You should run for president.

It's not stupid and shallow at all. Illegal immigration is bad for society because it's ILLEGAL. If you want to be here, take the proper actions to do so. And for God's sake, learn English - that's the most annoying thing. In my opinion it's just disrespectful to live in/visit another country whose language you do not speak and not even make an effort to learn it.
And illegal immigrants take jobs that could be given to US citizens who are simply trying to stay afloat. Granted those jobs are not ideal for said citizens, but it's better than nothing. And I know that illegal immigrants are cheap labor, but in that case US employers need to suck it up and deal.
I'm not saying mistreatment of illegal immigrants is the answer, I'm just commenting that the concern about tax dollars going to people who don't even live here legally is legitimate. It's not selfish at all. If we keep catering to all the people who are here illegally and deprive those that legitimately need the help that American tax dollars can provide (b/c I do agree that some of these people on welfare are just lazy and milking the system for all it's worth!), it makes the US a doormat, a pushover. Not a salad bowl or melting pot or whatever we're known as these days.

F U and your compassion, your compassion is letting American companies offer lower wages due to the fact that some third world worker will do it for pennies on the dollar, while that business man or woman reaps the profit margin. I say get a green card and become a tax paying American, and for GODS sake be able to speak the frigging language. Don't give this bleeding heart **** you wouldn't be so gung ho if you paid your taxes and had to support a few on welfare now would ya??

let's start with being 'illegal'
NOT legal is NOT legal. Any Illegal immigrant is done right there....NO entry, NO grants, NO freebies.
If any American or legal immigrant does something illegal there is a price to pay for the action. None are just 'forgiven' and given special treatment and free stuff for any illegal action. Why should anyone be rewarded for breaking the law?
Come to U.S. in the legal manner, speak the langrage of the country you choose to be in, abide by the laws and rules........ then talk to me.
If I went into Mexico or any country in a manner not approved by that country, would they give me free housing, schooling, health benifitts etc.? I think NOT.

look here, im somewhat sympathetic to the illegal alien situation and i believe peaceful people should be able to cross borders
however, im sick of this statement "Wasn't our great country founded on illegal immigration as we waltzed onto the Native Americans' land?"
first off we are ALL native americans, if you were born in america you are a native to our country, i assume you are being PC and discussing the indians
we did not "waltz" anywhere, there was no "we", there was our ancestors who did that, furthermore, they didn't waltz in
the indians often attacked, killed, pillaged and raped many white villages, ultimately what happened is that the american nation won a war against the indian nations, as a conquered people, their lot was cast
peoples have been conquered over and over throughout history, if the indians had had the technology to sail to europe and conquer that continent they surely would have, so please do some thinking before you post all this drivel

Ok I am not against immigrants but why are those who broke the law somehow better than others? That is what this comes down to. Those who BROKE THE LAW to come here demand we give them the same status as citizens and legal immigrants. Well I have to say No Way! If you broke law then how can you turn to me and say "I'm a decent person who wants to make a better America"? YOU BROKE THE LAW LITERALLY AS SOON AS YOU STEPPED ON SOIL. Let a conman, carjacker, rapist, etc come and tell me they demand this or that and I will say same thing "You're a criminal so shush".
I'm all for helping the poor and unfortuante but it comes down to one basic truth. A country is responsible to its citizens first, legal immigrants second and those who come here illegally not at all in any way except what we choose to give them.
As for the companies who abuse them that is wrong but those jobs should NOT ever, in any way, go to illegals..they should go to citizens who want them and then to legal immigrants who can make the lawful wage instead of hiring someone who will work under table so they can stay here. I agree corporations are a big problem but the solution is not to say to world "Hey everyone just jam our boarders and piss on our laws and we will give you a big hug and all the rights as those who worked hard to get here"
All boils down to repect for law. As for how we took the country then OK fine but slavery was legal then so let's make all illegals slaves then if we are gonna use logic from colonial days.

They'd get more compassion if they didn't break the law ... I think you'll find that legal immigrants get as much compassion as American citizens ... how about abiding by the law of the land? Novel idea for some I know, but try it .. might work you know ... :)

We spend our money as we spend it. Big corporations do have power, and to say that because they take money for their benefit we should also sit by and watch education for our children be ruined is ridiculous.
Where is your compassion for our own people?
If they ever fix the system, we can look at expanding immigration then. However, somehow I don't think that will happen. Meanwhile we pay for education and services, and we need them for our own people.

Free medical care, free housing, Food assistance, Job assistance, free college grants....Isn't this compassion in the EXTREME? If you lived in a border town, you would understand the anger.
The majority of Americans just want them to assimilate legally, not keep them from coming at all.

40-44 MILLION dollars spent on illegals health care in one year (for Maryland) That is just ONE state for ONE year just for health care, that isn't Even the numbers for other state aid programs, I would hate to see the figure for one of the border states. Now who has to pay for that money?? Do you honestly think the politicians are taking a pay cut to foot that bill???
