His name was spelt "Dahlmer" and yes, he was quite the freak. But to answer your question - when we trained our young soldiers in Ranger school (U.S. Army), we taught 'em which grubs and beetles were edible - and we made 'em go out and catch and eat 'em! The trick, when you first try it, is just to grab the critter and stuff it in your mouth and chomp it right down without hesitation. Not all of said critters taste really gross - and the point is survival in a hostile environment where you might not always be within range of a supply chopper...or the landing zone's too hot for resupply by air. For the uninitiated, "hot" means taking or anticipating imminent heavy fire...

One thought here: both Jeffrey Dahmer and Ed Gein (who inspired the Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie) were from Wisconsin, and cheese is a mass culture of living organisms....maybe it's just an acquired taste?

I live in Wisconsin...Mwa-Ha-Ha
