Sometimes your body hits a set point that it reaches and if you go below the calories that you need - it's like you go into starvation mode and instead of burning, you're conserving. Try amping up your calories or backing off the workouts for a day or two - you might not be giving enough time for your muscles to rebuild in between workouts - so they're not burning as many calories as they could as well. You might also be getting closer to your 'best' weight - no matter what you do, your body will think that it needs to be at that weight. I don't know your situation, but if you get worried about it, see a fitness trainer for 2 or 3 sessions and see if you're on track or not. Good luck

The right answer is before you. There are very few people who could eat only 1000 calories a day. I recently had this problem with a client. She was eating 800-1000 calories per day and was unable to lose. We tested her metabolism with a "Breath test" that reads oxygen consumption (most high-end gyms offer this for a moderate price of $25-$50) and discovered that she needed to eat at least 400 calories per day more to LOSE weight. When your calorie consumption is too low, your body DOES shut down and you're unable to lose. I recommend looking into the South Beach Diet. It is a good program with sound nutrition.

1000 calories per day is WAY to little to be eating, especially for an active woman. (I'm assuming you're a woman.) Doctors and dietitians recommend that no active woman get less than 1500 calories a day and that no active man get less than 1800 calories a day.

First, not enough calories in addition to workout out six days per week forces your body into starvation mode. I've tried the low-calorie-high-exercise diet before, about a year ago, and it doesn't work too well. I've found that eating enough of the RIGHT foods (fruits, vegetables, nuts, whole grains, low-fat dairy, lean meat, etc.) both boosts your overall energy, giving you more motivation to work out, improves your metabolism, keeps you healthier, and helps you lose weight faster.

It may also be that you're expecting instant weight loss? Remember that weight loss takes time. you didn't gain it overnight, and you're not going to lose it that quickly either.

You aren't giving your metabolism any challenge! Best advice? Eat 1,400 one day, 1,200 calories the next ,1000, and 800 calories and then cycle back to 1400. Alternate aerobics and weight training every other day. Your body wont know what the heck you are doing and wont plateau. You should also give your body a day or two a week of rest from working out. GOOD LUCK!!

If you don't enough calories, your metabolism will slow. Therefore, you won't lose any weight. You need to eat about 1200 calories to actually lose weight working out so much. It's weird, but true.

You also may be losing fat and gaining muscle. Do weekly measurements, and if you measurements get lower, you are doing just that. Muscle weighs double the amount of fat, and working out that much makes you more muscular.

Drink more fat-free milk or soy milk, and eat more lean protein (skinless chicken, tuna, etc). That will give you even more protein, which will help you do better at workouts. Make sure to eat fruits and veggies, and eat your breakfast, too. Always stay well-hydrated; drink your water and drink it well.

Best of luck!

You really need to worry about getting help rather than losing more weight. If you are obsessive about this to the point where you aren't at least taking in the nutrients your body needs (and there is no way you are doing that by restricting your calories like you are) yet continuing with the work-out schedule of someone who intakes at least 500 more calories a day then you may want to consider talking to somebody. If you restrict your diet too much, your body can react by storing it as fat and burning muscle when you work out. Talk to a nutritionist and see what they recommend as far as your diet goes. And yeah, I'd like to hear what your weight and height is.

Ironically, eating too few calories can backfire, since it lowers your metabolism. Also, you may not be getting enough protein.

Gaining muscle can actually make you gain weight while losing fat (muscle is more compact than fat). I suppose the most important thing is whether you are acheiving your desired body shape.

"A healthy diet is based around whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, and lean protein. A healthy diet keeps your metabolism in high gear with 4 to 6 small meals a day."

What are you drinking? Only drink water. A full glass every hour. Jog or walk for at least 30 minutes a day. Do your workout, remember when doing an exercise, when it gets hard to do ~those are the ones that count. Push harder to do the last five situps for example. If you are working out once a day, add a late night session of situps and pushups to your day. I will just drop and do situps 2 or 3 times a day. The water is the main key. best wishes

Your body thinks its starving and holding on to what it has. You need to have a healthy diet with enough calories to sustain you for the day and give you energy to do the work outs. Less is not always more. Try at least a 1,500 calorie diet and mix up your work outs a little bit with aerobics and weight training.
