It has been said that God is real. I am curious to see if this is true. In my reading of the Bible I have read some points on prayer.

Matthew 7:7, Matthew 17:20, Matthew 21:21, Mark 11:24, John 14:12-14, Matthew 18:19 and James 5:15-16

In Mark 9:23:
All things are possible to him who believes.
In Luke 1:37:
For with God nothing will be impossible.

Since all things are possible to him who believes, and for with God nothing will be impossible, could we pray for something that logically God could do, to reveal himself to us.

Lets pray this, Dear God, almighty, all-powerful, all-loving creator of the universe, we pray to you to cure every case of cancer on this planet tonight. We pray in faith, knowing you will bless us as you describe in Matthew 7:7, Matthew 17:20, Matthew 21:21, Mark 11:24, John 14:12-14, Matthew 18:19 and James 5:15-16. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

Will you pray with me, sincerely, and see if we see a cure of cancer

Sorry, precious, you can't prove God is real through other people. You have to go for it yourself.

God is real and He is not human nor does he think like one. He is a Miracle worker and cure all disease, cancer inclusive. But He works based on faith and You can not pray to generalised for a cure,

as you rightly quoted Mark 9:23
All things are possible to him who believes
Miracle work in two ways, receiving and accepting

in between comes faith
Miracle: receive-----faith----accept
there has to be a source and a destination

this is where Luke 1:37: For with God nothing will be impossible, applies.

He is the source of power and of healing, faith is the guide to the recipient's healing.

praying to generalisation or praying to specific:

We can pray "that The God cure person A of cancer" or that God use person B" to find a cure for cancer.

Well heres the thing. Absolutley God is real. And he will prove it if you truly ask of Him, for you personally. Its a matter of will you believe even if he does so? As for curing cancer? Its a possibility, I would suppose, if you really honestly truly believe! And if everyone who said that prayer really honestly truely believed. But it would almost be impossible. When the bible says that anything is possible with God, it means it. But only in a state of true belief. The bible also says to come to God with the heart of a child. Well how do children believe? Truly and deeply and honestly. If you tell a child that you are a superhero and can fly, they will believe you without question. If you walk up to a mountain and believe without doubt and question that you can make that mountain move, it will move! When the Lord tells you that he can cure cancer, or move a mountain, or create life and take it away, do you believe him truly, deeply and honestly without question? If you dont, then your prayer may not be answered in the way you want it to be, if you do, and everyone else does too, then it would be.

I like the prayer.

It would be great if God would do that. I just do not think that there are that many believers who can pray that and not doubt. I do not know how many believers it would take to do that.
Also I do not think that such a world wide healing is in Gods' plan. He first care is that we would be saved, some times a healing can help a person believe.

If you have a need to be healed, you could contact the World Network of Prayer at - www.wnop.org

If you want to feel Gods' presence for your self, look in the phone book for Pentecostal or Apostolic churches in your area and try going to some services in these churches. I suggest these two denominations because tend to be more spiritually active then most (as far as I know, but every church is different). Just ask them to pray with you (for a healing, or to feel His presence). Unfortunately not all people are understanding, so if you get a bad reaction from one church, just try another. If they truly love God they will be understanding.

God be with you.

the biggest problem with religionists is that they accept all these pronouncements written by conmen as the word of "God", a fictional being created by humans to explain the unexplainable and infinite nature of existence, which is the normal state of things. 1) Big Bang = Big Sham & 2)Big Daddy creator = a stupid and primitive idea from 6000 years ago which has remarkable legs. Some things just are. If Existence wasn't the normal state of things nothing would exist at all, even "God". Thought is a by-product of physical existence and not the other way around. When Descartes said "I think, therefore I am" he forgot to complete the sentence. What he meant to say was "I think, therefore I am a dick!" A rock doesn't think and it still exists. Existence does not need witnesses. And given that the time in my home country is now 2am, Friday I"m going to say goodnight, because I have to be at work at 830am and I need to visit another galaxy before I go to sleep. Nunight.

It doens't work that way I'm afraid.

Yes, He will listen to your prayer and he'll see the beauty of it.
And yes, He could cure the cancer.

But, some things are ment to happen. I believe that we all have a task, or several tasks to accomplish in the time we've been given. That can be to learn things, but also to learn things to others. Sometimes you might wonder what the reason is that someone got cancer and died, but most of the time there is a meaning to it, a meaning you won't see directly.

I said 'most of the times'. Don't forget that satan is always trying to destroy Gods work. And what better way to create illnesses, kill humans and stuff like that?

God could cure cancer, but who sais the devil won't bring it back? or mutate it so the cure we found doens't work anymore?

You knwo, perhaps He already helped us, because, do you see the balck plague somewhere? In europe it was a dreadfull disease. But someone found a cure...Gods work? I think so, because in those times there were many faithfull people, praying to let it stop.

and besides, do you truly believe? since I don't think your prayer will have lots of effect if you doubt He can do it an d only pray because He has something to proof to you.

I believe somewhere in the Bible it sais that you musn't ask God to perform a miracle to proof he excists. You may ask to cure cancer, but not as proof for his excistance

You can put cancer square on the shoulders of man. Man created, man maintained. How do you know there is no cure for cancer? How much money is made off sick people every year? Do you understand that God works through us. If we do nothing, nothing gets done. The Bible says to love one another as Christ loves the church and died for her. Are WE willing to love one another and take care of each other. I pray for the comfort and healing of those with cancer today and for a cure. I have cancer, I know I have eternal life with Jesus, so I don't fear dying. I believe in His healing so I have hope.

Truthfully, you don't need to pray to find a cure for cancer. look in your bible (Even though i don't really believe in the bible, but i've read it before)
And it says, when jesus was teaching his followers, that god gave us the power to do the things he did, and greater. (It's in a king james verson) Yes, god is real. How else could you explain how the earth got here? for years and years scientists tried to find a way around admitting god is real, but they still can't find a way. And we can find a cure for cancer, ourselves. it's just that these people are way too lazy to do so. and, think about it. if there was a cure for cancer, the scientists and doctors wouldn't get paid for doing all the treatments and scans and medication. If they REALLY wanted a cure for cancer, don't you think they would've found it already? It's not in a matter of god just SHOWING us the cure, it's a matter of him giving us the power to FIND it. (If that made any sense?) Hey, man...it's the best explination a teenaged chick can give...

Remember though, even if all things are possible with God, He only grant things where He sees fit. He does everything for a reason. The way I see it, there has to be some kind of balance in life. If everyone is healthy and the world is disaster-free, then how would we ever value heaven? At the same time, human sufferings are a direct result of what Adam & Eve did. We are here to pay for our original sins as a redemption before being granted forgivness.

I am not sure prayer is going to do it and to be honest if we are going to challenge Christians at the core then I am not sure that praying for an absolute is the answer. Atheism does not preclude spirituality for I feel within myself that I am a spiritual, positive person. I do good works, help others and try to live above what is expected of me. SO here goes I think the prayer and miracles we find in daily life are caused by the power of positive thinking (you can laugh and smirk now). Our brain is such a wondrous thing that we can create the best and the worst for ourselves. I think in a round about way that is what prayer is...

God is real as much as existence is real. In fact I think those are synonomous terms. But you are looking for a PERSON in god. That might not be the case at all. You are also looking for something DRAMATIC, which also may not be the case. God it seems is beyond proof, it is what it is and it does not need to prove itself, we humans want to prove it. So, why do you want to put god or existence into a box, even the word god is trying to distinguish it from other things, isn't that enough? All you need is the idea. Its like, how do we know, ACTUALLY KNOW, that there is blood inside of us, you are asking to cut the skin to make sure it is there, but I'm saying, the idea of the blood is all you need to work with, do you want it all over your hands?
