Do you answer a question from your personal understanding or From what you've heard and been taught?

I've notice that alot of people give the same religious answer. This make it seem so robotic and without true understanding.

Personally, I like to answer from my own interpretation as I find the teachings of religious scholars can be confusing. Only I believe that you have to gain spiritual/religious insight from your own research aswell. Sometimes I fuse my understandings with those of others inorder to get my point across more clearly.

Do you answer what you were taugt or do you answer what you believe?

I use both. I am the Director of Religious Education for a Catholic parish. I am very well versed in scripture and in Church teachings. My boss is also one of my best friends and we frequently discuss our faith as they apply in the real world.

The point of the thousands of years of faith history is to give us the voice of experience...Kruchev said," Those who cannot recall the past are condemned to repeat it." You must know what has gone before, and how it has formed the teacings of your own faith. Otherwise, why belong to that faith if it's history is meaningless to you and has no application as far as you are concerned?

Having a solid base of knowledge and understanding of the history of teaching both in scripture and Church law and tradition allows me to take that knowledge to the people I serve in my parish.

Both. It depends on the question. If it is a question about something that happened in the past then it is answered by what was taught, if it is a question of opinion then it should be answered based off your belief and in your own words instead of just rehearsed lines from a book.

Well, God gives you the brain so why not use it? Some people don't even know what they're talking about. They're just repeating what other people said(as long that people have same faith like them) or just take the verse from their books because they're too lazy to think. They don't know anything but they still talk because they just don't like it when people telling them something that might challenge their faith and brain.

For me, in order to be a real believer, you must understand your faith and belief first. So, yea, I agree with you. ^_~ Just check most of my answers, you'll see. I don't use verse from al-Quran just to prove my point(repeating the point are more like it) :P.

certainly what i was taught has some influence, but i have come to a place of enlightenment. i answer with my heart for i have God in my heart. and with God in my heart i know that there is someone out there that needs to hear about God's love for them. the church has had to much control over what to believe or not believe. God is love and if i can spread that message the better for all.

Both. Your beliefs are influenced by what you learn from many sources; the Bible, a Pastor, or other self-help books.

It could be that the answers you see are the same because they are true.
