Like every religion in the world people will find good and bad.
Serene ,you do not even know what you are talking about. I am not a sikh but have read about sikhs and their religion
You have not understood how god is described. Foermless as you put it is spirit. What is the form of your spirit. Sikh teachings say that god is omnipotent. He exists everywhere in the sea,in the air and on land.Infact it is the hindus who believe in krishan and Ram and countless other human beings as gods.!!!!
2)the sikh gurus have QUOTED from the QURAN and the hindu Vedas and never said anywhere that they are their own sayings. In quoting from the different holy books they have shown that the sikhs respect all religions.
3) The worst things that the hindu so called gods did was create a Caste system thereby by definition saying that one human being is superior to another simply by virtue of in which caste they are born. (all humans being equal? not according to lord Krishan) The sikh gurus denounced that ".You could be a beggar, or a king but in the eyes of the lord you shall be equal"
Jesus Christ also preached in the same vein.
Nowhere in the holy book of the Sikhs is anything mentioned about Eating Meat.!!! the sikhs have done that by themselves. it is the individuals not the religion.
So Serene get your facts right.
Lastly if it was not for the Sikhs,India today would have been an Islamic country.

Serene- some of your comments about Sikhism are factually incorrect and ditto for Islam.

I am not Sikh because the religion had many "holes" in it when i researched it but if they disagree with the caste system; that is a plus.

The caste system is disgusting; just look at the treatment of the "untouchables"; i feel so sorry for them; people who are treated like lepers and why? beacause they're poor. The caste system is an old system which has carried on to today; people were respected according to their wealth and education- todays "castes" mean that some people automatically get respect simply because of their name and others are looked down upon because of their name. Is that fair? Or does it even make sense?

And Muslims ARE permitted to eat meat during Hajj. Meat is a gift from God and we have no problems, either from a scientific or moral aspect, in eating it. Please do not post incorrect comments; learn about Sikhism and Islam before you come on here and state untruths. Im sure you wouldnt appreciate me saying that Hindus i know eat meat but not on their wedding days and question whether or not that is hypocricy....

Wrong:

1. To believe that God is only a spirit and not a person - if God created everything and gave form to everything how can he be formless? God's form is not a material form - it is a spiritual form - that is the real meaning of nirakar - not a material form like yours or mine. They frequently talk about Rama and Krishna as God appearing in human form but can't see that God can have his own spiritual form.

2. To put together a mish-mash of teachings from Quran and Vedas and call their own scriptures.

3. Wrong to misunderstand the caste system and then label it as unnecessary - they have no knowledge of what the caste system is really for - try reading the Bhagavad-Gita - Lord Krishna says that he himself inaugurated the four divisions for the proper functioning of society. True that the current caste system is very degraded but to try to dismiss it completely is foolish. Every society needs teachers, warriors, traders and labourers but none are superior to the others - as Lord Krishna himself states in the Bhagavad-Gita.

3. Encouraging consumption of meat at all other times except when they are in the temple/gurudwara - this is the same as Muslims when they go on Haaj - continue with whatever you want to do all year round and then appear to be holy whilst at the temple/gurudwara or mosque!
