b/c they feel that church is a place to meet people that have similar beliefs and values as them.
if you like to party and drink, then meet someone at a bar.
if you like to read and discuss philosophy then maybe you want to meet someone at a bookstore or coffee shop.
see?

It is a semi social enviroment that everyone attending has a common intrest (a place to start a conversation). It is communal so if the conversation goes ary you are not trapped for the next two hours. Then there is the concept that a church going person must be a good person. What people ignore is that everyone at church is as broken or more broken then you. THe churhc is a good place to develop a relationship since there are many support groups and trainning classes in relationships but dont' go just to find a date. You will miss out an all the friendships that you can develope if you focus on just a true love.

Because it's best to base a relationship on a solid foundation. It would be something very positive that you two would have in common. The best marriages I know of are those who go to or at least belong to a church. It's a much better foundation than if you met someone in a bar.

Because others tell them they will meet good people there. If you are interested in a particular religion, by all means join up and stick with it. Maybe then you will marry someone from that church. But to go to church for the sole reason of hooking up is just wrong.

The Bible says that a Christian should not be unequally yoked. That means that a Christian should marry a Christian. As you get older, you will find it is hard to change a person. A lot of marriages end in divorce because the wife goes to church and the husband does not, normally.

I enjoy attending church. I learn a lot and have a good time. I have a relationship with my family, friends and church members. I have friends that are christians, muslims, hindus, and jehovah's witnesses. I don't agree with their religion but I respect their choice. Its not brainwashing. Brainwashing is when you've been taken over by nonsense. Its not nonsense.

The only correct reason to go to church is because you love God and want to worship Him, you want to thank Him, you want to pray to Him, do your best to honor Him. If you happen to meet a nice person that is fine, but don't waste God's time or your own going thru motions and rituals and saying stuff you don't care about.

Most religions promise some kind of eternal damnation if a person doesnt follow it.
People who believe that, just want to fall in Love with someone who is less likely to spend eternity away from them.
Its absurd....... but its human enough.
