its an ibm running xp (was running xp in combination with kubuntu linux). I removed linux, but the grub starter is still active, and when the computer loads, it loads with grub with finds an error and then stops. In IBM BIOS setup utility i can't quite figure out how to remedy this scenario. The computer is a lenovo thinkpad and did not come with a boot disk, but i do have the capability to burn one for it if necessary, but would rather solve the problem within IBM BIOS if that is possible...just want to load with regular ole' xp. thanks for the help

You will need to create a XP boot disk and run the MBR repair. Uninstalling Linux didn't replace the boot record, but it did delete most of the stuff GRUB needs to run properly.
