We read a lot so I'm looking for book titles/authors that I may not already know. We have a lot of Eric Carle, Berenstein Bears, Dr. Seuss, Corduroy by Don Freeman, Sesame Street, Winnie the Pooh, Sandra Boynton, Clifford, Laura Numeroff, P. K. Hallinan. Does anyone have any suggestions?

We go the library on a regular basis but our library has a limited selection. They are expanding so maybe in the next year they'll have more.

Good Night, Pillow Fight is one of our family favorites. Also we love the Rock-A-Baby series by Kate McMullan. Jane Yolen puts out a series about Dinosaurs that teaches manners etc, but it very fun to read and listen to. Usbourne books has a great selection as well. All of their books are fun and entertaining. My two year old loves "Sam Sheep Can't Sleep" which is an Usbourne book.

I always take me niceces to Barnes and Nobel to find what's new. They have a good selection and break it up by age. I love Corduroy! and anything Dr. Seuss, I have Fox in Sox memorized. I bought them Good Night Moon, Pat the Bunny, that was really good as a starting point and they are really good readers now.

Go to the library. Many local libraries offer childrens reading progams where the kids get credit for books that you read to them and the child will get a huge selection to choose from. Also it may inspire them to read other things you may not have thougth of. And with the reading programs the kids earn rewards like free meals or other things that kids really enjoy.
Hope this is helpful.

"If you give a mouse" Series
"Monkeys jumping on the bed" Series
All David Shannon Books are great....I LOVE "No David"
My kids also love both "take me out of the bath tub and other silly dilly songs" They are full of silly limerics set to common tunes that we all know. Our favorite is "stinky, stinky, diaper change, boy my brother smells so strange!"

Robert Munsch books - they are very funny and interactive for kids. If you can, get ones of the author reading them - he's incredible. Also, his book "Love you forever" is very touching for parents, and kids like the story.
