It was on the ground and my brother couldn't find the nest or parents so he gave it to me. I took care of it for a couple weeks and it is healthy and living outside on its own. I leave food for it and he comes when I call him. I am scared that he will become attached to me and not find other crows to live with during the winter. It is roughly two months old. Should I ignore him and stop feeding him or will he find a family either way? I have another question as well I seen him on an antenna on top of my neighbors roof and perched beside him was a hawk about 3/4 his size I do not no what breed of hawk but is it a threat? It did not appear interested in my crow and flew away but he lives in my neighborhood and might come back and my crow has no buddies to protect him yet.

That depends do you want the crow to go away

If you do gradually reduce the time you spend with him

Instead of feeding him everyday feed him every other day this will encourage him to find food on his own

Then gradually increase it to every 2 days than every 3 days and so on.

Eventually he should leave

If you want him to stay thats fine. He should find a mate, crows bond to their mate and stay with them for life. He will teach his mate to use you as a source of food.

As far as the Hawk, VCrows are often seen attaking hawks and stealing their food.

Now that your baby crow is feeding on his own, he should be OK. I think that when your brother found him the birds parents were teaching him how to find food. that is a normal phase when babies leave the nest. They were probably around just afraid of people and were at a distance. If you are worried try to call a wild bird rehad center in your area, they should be able to take him and show him the right foods to look for on his own and then they will release him. Good luck.

Thats kinda cool that you have a tame crow. We have crows and hawks in our neighborhood too. I have a couple of blue birds who come in our backyard to feed on bread.... only my husband and I don't like the crows in our neighborhood because they feed on the dove eggs...

That is still amazing that you tamed the crow, so did you name it and when you call it, it come in your yard??
