It really is better to just be up front with someone and tell them.

This guy that I considered a friend, caught me off guard by asking me out. It was hard and akward but I told him that I didn't see this coming and I only saw him as a friend. I felt bad because I dissapointed him, but I was honest and it's just better that way. To avoid a straight answer would of made things worse.

Be polite but firm to your friends - that you just have a bad track record of being fixed up and you don't want to ruin the friendship. As for the girl, again, be polite, don't be a jerk, and just tell her you're interested in someone else or you're taking a little break from dating. Don't give her false hope that there could be a possibility down the road if there isn't, that's just mean.

Good luck!

I think that you should be honest with her and let her know your not looking for a relationship right now, and you rather be single.
You also need to let your friends know that now isn't a good time for them to be trying to hook you up with people. Tell them you will let them know when you are ready/

You need to tell your friends that you are happy being single and do not want to be hooked up with anyone.

Some people think they need to run other peoples lives and know what is best for them. Just have a talk with your friend and tell him you are not interested and please respect your feelings and not take it personal. A true friend will understand. Best wishes.

Explain to all of them that you are not looking to date anyone right now, "you are just focusing on improving self" or something like that. Tell them you appreciate their concern, but you make that move once you are ready.

Many answers, you're not interested in dating right now.You have to focus on school(if you're in school). You want to keep your options open. You just had a bad breakup(also,if this applies to you).Be honest, but not harsh.Keep in mind the same thing could happen to you one day.

Tell her you're not interested. Honesty shouldn't hurt her feelings, and if it does, that's her problem.
Tell your friends to quit meddling. They should respect your feelings on being set up.
