Ex. 20: 4,5 says... You shall not make yourself a carved image or any likeness of anything in heaven or on earth beneath or in the waters under the earth: you shall not bow down to them or serve them. For I , Yahweh,(lord, Jehovah, God) your God, am a jealours God"
Lev. 26:1 You must make no idols; you must set up neither carved image nor standing-stone, set up no sculptured stone in your land, to prostrate yourselves in front of it: for it is I God, who am your God.
2nd Cor. 6: 16 " The temple of God has no common ground with idols, and that is what we are__ the temple of the living God."
1st John 5:21 My little children, be on your guard against Idos...."false Gods"

Jesus almost certainly died while impaled on a simple stake, rather than a cross of two intersecting beams. Of course the Romans had the ability to create such devices, and probably did. But ask yourself: why they would have bothered when a simple stake would have worked just as well or better?
It is also enlightening to examine other relevant Scriptures.
You may be interested to see how your own copy of the bible translates Acts 5:30, Galatians 3:13, Deuteronomy 21:22, 23, and Acts 10:39. The King James, Revised Standard, Dyaglott, and Jerusalem Bible translate the instrument of Christ's death simply as "stake" or "tree" because the original wording simply does not support the idea that this was more than a piece of upright wood.
It is also eye-opening to examine how the first-century Christians felt about idols of any kind, much less one that glorified an instrument of death.

God explained it right there. Don't you pay attention? No crosses, no statues, no nothing! This is why I cannot understand churches. They have a humungous cross right on top! They also have statues, and images of Jesus and God in stained glass windows. Isn't that worshipping false idols? This is why I don't go to curch, and because religion is overrated. Who's to say there is one true religion? You are better off praying in the comfort of your own home.

It is okay to keep such things as necklaces, crosses and paintings as symbols and reminders of what God has done for us, but praying to them? No. You pray to God. By Christ's sacrifice, we are now able to speak directly to God and only to God. Praying to Mary, a mere human being is rediculous. It says nowhere in the Bible that she has any kind of influence in heaven at all. Only Christ can intercede for us, not Mary. Yes, I believe that this is a form of Idol worship. We humans have many idols: money, Mary, Government, entertainment stars, you name it, we worship it.

Your Christian 'God' must be a little dim if 'he' thinks crucifixes, Mary and Christian symbols are the same as golden calves and Moloch and Baal.
Fortunately the real 'God' is much smarter than that, and understands that the symbols you mention are representations, not magical things in and of themselves.

You just awsered your own question. No we are not to pray to any images. Images do not have the power to do anything but sit there, so why waste God's prayers on them. Jesus loves you.

You should pray to God in heaven in Jesus' name, and not any other object or person.

You know what they say; if Jesus had lived and died in our era, people would wear jewellery and necklaces with electric chairs!
