I find it unbelievable that theists blame satan, lack of God etc. etc and atheists blame God. I blame Me. Now what can I do in my own little world to change what is wrong? Be nice and use your "intellect.'"

Thank goodness for a great searching question!!!
.
You're so right. I have always found it so sad when the lament is always 'Why did God let this happen?!' We were all born with free will. That was one of the unconditional gifts we were all born with. God does not make the messes.....we do!!!! But apparently God is to blame for bad things and the one we cry to or suddenly like children look to when we are lost and need guidance. God, whatever form you believe it takes, is non judgemental and always there whether you believe in it or not. (My apologies to those who are upset with my use of the term 'it'. I am trying to present as objective a point of view as I am able. I genuinely mean no offence.) So our world will only begin to seriously begin changing as we all become mature enough to take responsibility for our own actions. Only then will we actively work to construct the world we all wish to live in. This truth is inescapable.

I think it is because people are 100%'ers. They have to be completely right or they are completely wrong. Since each of us believes ourselves to be on the side of right, that means the other side (whatever that is) MUST be wrong.

Insane, isn't it? lol

I know that I am probably wrong about half the time, so I try to keep my mouth shut unless I'm pretty sure lol. But like you, I try to change my little portion of the world, beginning with me. I try not to judge others, but stand on my own beliefs and moral values, which is hard enough for me to keep up with!

Although sometimes, when I see someone in a big SUV park in a handicapped spot and jump out and run into Walmart, I want to confront them and point them out to the world how awful that is! Oh well, I guess I'm just like everyone else lol.

Theists do not always blame satan, athiests don't blame God because they don't believe in God. People do need to take responsibility for their actions. The best thing you can do is to set the example.

People, by their very nature, do not like to take responsibility for their own mistakes and foolishness. They prefer to blame others and tear them down to make themselves feel better. As to changing your own little world, accept responsibility for YOUR actions, and do not accept responsibility for the actions of others. It is about all you can do, and it will be enough. You will have done your part.

First of all, wouldn't it be kind of awkward for an athiest to blame God-- They don't believe in a God. Which means they basically see themselves as God...which means they basically blame themselves for evil in the world.
I do know this...Ephesians 2 says that I am by nature a child of wrath. We are innately sinful and apart from God. It is only by His grace that we are saved from distruction. Praise the Lord that I am saved by His grace and mercy.
Back to our inherent evil. We are born sinful. In Psalm 51 David says "surely I was conceived in sin." This brings me to the thought of the world. I sat in a psychology class this year and listened to my teacher and every other student in the class except for 1 tell me that I was basically good of my own accord. They even tried to tell me that the bible tells me that I'm basically good. For goodness sake, we must read Ephesians 2. I am sinful, and only do good through the grace of God.
Think of it this way: do you have to teach a young child to disobey or be selfish? No. They want that cookie when they want it, and are willing to get it by means of kicking or screaming or throwing all sorts of temper tantrums.
I don't know if this really answered your question or not. If you are saved by grace, then praise God for His mercy upon me, the worst sinner I know.

it's much easier to blame circumstances outside yourself for your own situation than to take personal responsibility.

Society and parents also don't help this situation either. It's not so much to do with religion (at least I don't think so), as the way we are raised. It's a very immature attitude.

When you cross the line into the supernatural, you get to pick and choose what is real and what serves your feelings desires and whims, like a other world buffet.
And then you get to blame that other world when you screw up.
It all goes against sanity.

it's personal protection. in our world, if you let yourself take the blame, there's a likelihood that you'll be punished - and none but the very best of us will willingly take punishment. we'd (generally speaking) rather it happened to someone else than to us.... so we pass the blame when we can
