I see lots of questions by athiests on Y! Answers that degrade and demoralize God. This makes no sence; if they beleive that God is not real, a fake, a myth, then why are they so threatened?

I dont see countries threatening or going to war with other imaginary countries. I dont see normal people picking fights with imaginary people. I have seen weirdo's walking around downtown fighting with invisible people, but these people are usually called psychos, wack jobs, or just drug addicts

If they believe that God is not real, whats the big deal what others believe? Again, how is something that they believe to be nonexistant a threat?

Are they paranoid schizophrenics or maybe, just maybe, deep down inside their inner being knows that there IS a higer power.

Unfortunately, there are too many Christians who are "religious extremeists" who beleive that if you are not a Christian, then you are an enemy. That is completely contradictory to the teachings of most any religion. If you want to open the eyes of someone who believes differently than you do, you do not go to war with them, you befriend then and build on your similarities rather than your differences. Unfortunately, too many Christian extremists give the rest of us a bad name.

It's human nature to be spiteful when someone else has something we think we cannot have.

It is easier to denounce God and the peace true Christians have in their lives than it is for the atheists to amend their lives and conform them to a set of rules they find restrictive.

After all- if you don't want to live the life God asks you to live, isn't it easier to simply deny His existence?

Atheists want "proof' of God. If you want to believe, no proof is necessary, if you do not want to believe, no proof is sufficient.

because they like to argue, if they were true atheists they just wouldn't care, but then you added this other stuff about imaginary countries, the United States was an imaginary country until the declaration of independence, and this stuff about imaginary people, normal people aren't picking fights with imaginary people they are defending themselves from people that believe in an imaginary jesus, christians are the threat, not the non-existence of their christ, and they have good reason to be scared, remember the crusades, inquisitions witch hunts, the Phelps (westboro baptist church) normal people get killed for not honoring your imaginary christ, oh and by the way I'm not even Atheist they just need all the help they can get, I do believe in God, I even believe in Jesus, just not your god or your jesus,
my Jesus would never allow the actions imposed by so called christians

I don't know any atheists who feel "threatened" by Christianity per se. What atheists, agnostics and many others are opposed to is the Christian idea that Christians should be permitted to restrict everybody's freedom based on the premise that "this" or "that" is in the Christian bible.

Gay rights, for example, are a civil rights matter, not a religious one.

Christianity more and more is aligning itself with totalitarian-style politics, demanding the right to take away, block or limit rights of others.

I don't think that atheists are necessarily "threatened". Atheists as a minority are usually in a position of having to defend their beliefs. And just like racial minorities in the US who are often discriminated against, atheists feel like they are not included or respected or given full citizenship at times. Atheists are looked down upon by the Christian majority and in the Christian mind atheists are evil, hell bound and Satanic. Much like the witches of Salem. I believe there is real danger and definitely a history that the religious majority could try to take away the freedom and rights of non-believers. I think non-believers have to be always viligent to protect their rights of free thought and free expression.

We are very lucky to live in the U.S.A. where our religious liberties are protected by the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

It's push back from people prosethetizing to them because of their disbelief in a supreme being. After a while it gets very old and tedious and more than a little condescending.

Just like getting called a devil worshipper because you are Pagan.

They are attacked by Christians, and after a while start to get defensive.

Threatened? No

Pissed off at them? Heck yeah.

Christians are the ones who think its nice to knock on my door on Saturday mornings and tell me I'm going to hell because I dont believe in their fairy tales.

Christians are the ones who try to make their beliefs into law, not based on what is just and right for all citizens, but based on what their book tells them.

Christians are the ones who think its OK to force my kids to pray along with them at school, and have the nerve to get offended when I tell them to shut up and leave my kids alone.

Christians are the ones who think its their right to emlazon their god's name on public buildings, public property, and everything else thats not theirs, and have the nerve to act like they are the victim when they are told to keep their god out of our government like the Constitution says.

It appears to be the other way around. Christians are always complaining about atheists.

I am neither Christian nor atheist.

Why are we threatened by Christians? Well, you'll have to ask Christians that one, my friend. I don't know why they threaten us. Insecurity on their part, I guess.
