I (an atheist, *very* well read in the Bible and other religious texts) visit the R&S forums regularly because the subject interests me and because it's FULL of theists challenging atheists in our beliefs. I've seen next to none from atheists demanding that you justify yourselves, and that's because we don't care what you believe. If you mean, why is it that when theists challenge atheists, those atheists don't immediately convert to Christianity, well, that's because we're a bright bunch and we take some persuading. "It's in the Bible" simply doesn't work for us the way it does for you.

Perhaps you could link to a few answer threads in Additional Details, where atheists are upsetting you, so we can see what you mean.

first of all... the ONLY reason why i even care to ask you Christians/Catholics or whatever what is in the Bible (which you should've capitalized) is so that i can fully understand why some of you are sort of closed-minded against some huge issues. i want to know if what you guys go against is even stated in the Bible as a "sin." and so what if one opposes your faith just because you explain it 1 million times? it isn't like any of you would listen to our views and faith or whatevers even if we spend our whole life "promoting" it. just because you have reasons to believe it that doesn't mean everybody else around you have to. the world's huge, you can't expect people to think like you. btw... some questions can't even be answered by your fellow followers. it sounded really suspicious as if the guys don't even know what the hell they're talking about. maybe that's why we don't "accept it as a valid answer" when some of you don't even know what the truth is. i remember this one guy that tries to promote his religion on a bicycle came in my bf's house. my bf asked him a bunch of questions and the guy was just more confused than answering the question. in fact, most atheists don't really care for what you guys believe in. it's the people that has a religion come bothering us about what we should believe in... know that

Hey, for your very first question asked it is a good one. The people who bash the Bible the most are the ones who know the least about it. Maybe they would not be so critical if they would take a minute and try to read and understand it. I have been reading and studying for a loooong time and there are still relevant and useful things in it that I didn't notice before.

Well try to answer more questions. That will give you a clearer idea.Either you will convince atheists or you will know better.Anyway faith without question is a dangerous trend as it amounts to servility and there is a possibility that some clever guy can use the technique to manipulate you or even a society as it happens with most sects throughout world

I have read the bible. I know about religion. As a matter of fact, I probably know more about christianity than most christians. I am here for an intelligent question/answer. I have every right to be here asking questions, if it is such a bother to answer them, don't.

Well, the same reason all you christians try to impose your faith on everybody else. Why do christians insert bible verses into political questions, or go door to door to try and convert people? Those actions show little respect for people of other faiths and generally quite annoying. If you are allowed to try and convert people to your faith, others are allowed to try and convert you to their faith. It's only fair. It's like an eastgoing Zax running into a westgoing Zax, there is no room to move. If christians want to try to convert others, then they have to deal with others trying to convert them, if it is something that bothers you, then ignore it. If you can handle the scrutiny of normal debate (I leave extremists out of it, there is no accounting for them) then enter into it.

It may not necassarily be that we don't accept your answer as a valid answer. Many of us view religion as just another subject to learn about, like science or geography. I am facinated by the belief systems of many religions and enjoy learning the traditions in each. It doesn't mean that I am going to convert or that your answer is any less meaningful.

1) To point out flaws and inconsistancies in your faith structure.

2) To turn the tables on you about feeling persecuted for a faith structure.

3) It's also a lot of fun to see you fall into the trap and try and prove athiests "wrong".

atheists asking questions on the bible is about the same as christians saying atheists will go to hell for not believing in it.

Its a way of justifying and defending you point of view and beliefs. both are.

May be they want to seek the truth - and the answers you give are not convincing enough - think about it, why don't you ask some questions from them too and find out what they believe in and why they do - Please try a few Buddhists, Hindu's and Satanists too... I am sure you might get a few constructive answers. Good luck
