After being monitored for six weeks by a cat psychotherapist, the psychotherapist recommended that the cats be encouraged to act out their manic-depressive feelings through the medium of song and dance.

However, the first night flopped when the cats delievered a disappointing performance. One of the cats complained that the audience was so silent and distant, and this brought back traumatic memories of the forever-absent Godot. Thus the cats rewote an avant-garde adaptation of Phantom of the Opera, set in a phone booth, where an audience would sit around outside and whisper words of encouragement down the phone, which would not disturb the other members of the audience, since only the cats could hear them.

the problem is that all living things except theatre audiences (who cant act) and cats have died. to keep the surviving few humans alive (the theatre audiences who cant act), they have to see the show that they have booked very expensive tickets for or else they will beleive there is nothing just left in the world and will committ suicide. so the cats are ropped in to perform 'Christine' and the 'phantoms' role , however the theatre burns down and the nearest inclosed area is a phoone both (the cats have to keep their fur dry cos they get upset otherwise).
