Let me try and explain this to you, as a person who has had some very bad experiences with the LDS church.
For several years, we have been targeted by the mormons. They knock on our door, they call us, they hunt us down. We have moved to THREE different states, and yet they still find us.
We have told them 'no contact' multitudes of times, and they wont' go away. They do for a little while, then the next set of missionaries or the another visiting teacher is assigned to us.
Those poor people are then sent to our door, without ANY warning that we may be hostile.
My husband was raised mormon, but left when he was 15. My husband receives invites to SINGLES nights. Our children are classified as illegitimate. We have been married 20 (twenty) years. This is not a new thing.
We have tried several times to get his name off the roles, but they REFUSE. The only avenue left is legal action, and my husband won't do that because of his family.
If they respected OUR right to be left alone, I would not be out here telling our story.

Is that true? Because they don't generally piss people off the way Jehovah's Witnesses do. I don't know anyone who hates Mormons, most people couldn't give a toss about them, and the only well known Mormons are the Osmonds. Maybe people are jealous of their teeth.

I don't hate mormons. I admit that I get annoyed by the witnessing thing, particularly when you tell them that you're not interested and they won't stop and leave you alone. That to me is harrassment and I don't appreciate it. I don't care for any religion very much. If some of these people could take no for an answer and leave it alone, I would respect their right to worship in peace.

(John 15:19) If you were part of the world, the world would be fond of what is its own. Now because you are no part of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, on this account the world hates you.
(Luke 6:22) Happy are you whenever men hate you, and whenever they exclude you and reproach you and cast out your name as wicked for the sake of the Son of man.
(1 Peter 4:4) Because you do not continue running with them in this course to the same low sink of debauchery, they are puzzled and go on speaking abusively of you.
(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching, but, in accord with their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.

I've never met anyone that hates mormons. I would imagine alot of people have problems with the religion because of common misconceptions about it. Your going to find people that just like to hate. Read through the answers on the religion questions here and you'll find plenty of them.

Because they believe in something that does not exist and take it to the extreme by letting it dictate how they live their life on a daily basis. People hate mormons for that reason.

I'm a British Mormon, and yes, people do hate us. They have strange ideas that we believe in things like polygamy and becoming Gods. My own father refers to me as a "moron" and refuses to call my church a church, asking whether I'm going to "that building" on Sunday.
