Perhaps they do in fact have a desire to find salvation and as they ask they are hoping that someone will love them enough to share Jesus Christ.

Actually this is nonsense - The majority of posts on here are from theists, mostly Christians and Muslims. Maybe atheists come third.
It is also worth pointing out that you will never, EVER see an atheist go into a non-religious discussion group and start banging on about how no gods exist, whereas Christians and Muslims often turn up and start their uninvited and unwanted preaching in all sorts of entirely inappropriate places.
As for the world being better off without religion, well it's unarguably true that much of the discrimination, persecution and conflict in the world is directly due to religious belief and religious differences. Get rid of the religion and there would be one less major cause of suffering in the world.

Ok...again. As an Atheist, I do not believee in god. So questions such as "if god is gay" are silly to me. I DO NOT believe there is a god. I am not against religion or god. I DO NOT believ there is a god. I think everyone should believe what they want, whatever makes you happy. My only problem with religious people is that some are uneducated about their particular religion. I have read the bible, been to church and studied many different types of religions. I made an educated decision not to believe. Unfortunately some religious people only believe because everyone else does or because that is how they were raised. I believe the world would be a better place with more education not less religion.

Keep in mind that most of the biggest, bloodiest wars and conflicts were fought because God said it would be a good idea to attack the infidels.
What we have right now is Sudan is nothing short of a pogram to eradicate those of a diffferent faith.
Shi'ite Muslims and Sunni Muslims takes turns blowing each other up, because the other regilion is not the "correct" Muslin religion.
And considering how I personally have had the principles of other people's religions, (Mormornism and Jehovah's Witnesses) shoved down my throat and be declare by them that I am going to hell for my beliefs, I can understand why the atheists and agnostics feel persecuted.
All faiths have some degree of contradiction in their structure. It's just that the athiests are blunt about pointing it out.

I haven't seen the God being gay yet, but when I do I'll jump on that too. As for somebody pushing thier beliefs you must not have been here that long. I have heard so many people trying to push many religions on here not just Athiests.
As for right now there being about 60% Athiest. I think you are way off.
I just wish everybody could get along. You can discuss your religion, even try to convert; However you should never bad mouth somebody elses religion. If you do then you are no better then the ones who attack you.
In other words it is o.k. to say the Bible is full of lies if you back it up, however you should not say people are brainwashed.
See in debating things we learn, but nothing good comes out of belittling somebody. And no I love religion and the freedom to have religion.

Just because someone doesn't believe in the tenets of a particular (or any) religion doesn't mean she or he is an atheist. You can believe in God without following a religion. I think an individual's religion should be respected as the "language", so to speak, that person uses to have a relationship with the divine; but if there are things about a particular religion that someone finds distasteful or confusing they should be able to ask (respectful) questions without being labelled an atheist.

Sadly, even so-called "Christians" have learned so little in their churches that they often do not realize that the choice to go door-to-door is not made by Jehovah's Witnesses, but by the head of the Christian congregation, Christ Jesus.
The Scriptures indicate that Jesus personally instructed his disciples to go door-to-door. Although they are a relatively small religion, Jehovah's Witnesses clearly embody the most prominent global fulfillment of that Christian assignment. Frankly, you can call yourself a Christian all day long, but if you disregard the door-to-door preaching work, who are you really disregarding?
(Luke 10:1-17) After these things the Lord designated seventy others and sent them forth by twos in advance of him into every city and place to which he himself was going to come. 2 Then he began to say to them: “The harvest, indeed, is great, but the workers are few. Therefore beg the Master of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest. 3 Go forth. Look! I am sending you forth as lambs in among wolves. ...16 “He that listens to you listens to me too. And he that disregards you disregards me too. Moreover, he that disregards me disregards also him that sent me forth.”
While a few people in their territories may choose to disregard the preaching work, Jehovah's Witnesses could never disregard Jesus and the Almighty in that manner, as Luke 1:16 teaches. Instead, the evidence is clear that Jehovah's Witnesses are performing Christ's work and thus they are, in fact, the only true Christians today.
As true Christians, Jehovah's Witnesses work to please God and Christ rather than man or selves. It does not even matter if anyone listens to their message, since the bible foretold that many (such as the questioner) would not "put up with the healthful teaching". The Witnesses continue to preach because they value the bible's direction even more highly than a silly window slogan!
(Acts 5:42) Every day in the temple and from house to house they continued without letup teaching and declaring the good news about the Christ, Jesus.
(Acts 20:20) I did not hold back ...from teaching you publicly and from house to house
(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching ...and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.

You might be half right.
Could also be 30-60% punk aass!
Communism. The state is God. Communism and communal "born again Christainism" isn't much different except the communists do it all for the "state" and the Born Agains for "God" and the Communists say "comrade" and the Born Agains say "brother."
Not much difference.
And communism supports the 10 commandements! Thou shalt have NO OTHER God before ME (the state)!
The problem Atheists have is the same problem as religious peolple have. Proving it.
You can't prove God exists in the real sense. I mean God will not appear at the UN general Assembly, work a few miracles and vanish, like George Burns in that movies Oh, God.
You also can't prove God doesn't exist.
Try it and you face science. Matter can't be created nor destroyed only converted. Therefore it is PROVEN by science that something exists forever, always existed and was never created and that something creates. Matter converts into other things, including, eventuall, humans as amino acids form and separate.
The Big Bang was patterened after the Jewish Bible, written 5700 years ago. They are identical generalities!
Both attempts are futile in trying to establish a foundation.
What separates most Athiest posts from Religous posts is that Religion, mostly Christian, are generally nice, hopeful, considerate, loving and wish the Athiest a happy day and often want God to bless him or her!
I can't believe Athiests form their God from Mr. Scrooge and think everthings a Humbug!
It be nice if a few Atheists showed that they have phisolophical life values that come from no place in particular, but they never seem to do this!
As you say it boils down to an arguement and this can be combatted.
God is about love, tolerance, living a good life and being nice.
What do you have against those things!?
No atheist has yet to come out and say all of them are bunk!
Do you need God to have those things? No! Free will. Everyone chooses to be a certain way.
As for faith and belief, if there are TWO people to pick and GOD has to pick one and one is an
Admitted Atheist who loves, cares, is nice, stays what we call "pious" helps people and is chratable.
The other is a
Christian who goes to church, accepts Jesus, is Baptised, has sex with 10 different partners before marriage, cheats on their income taxes, gets tired of giving bums a quarter and is abusive verbally and argumentative.
Who does God pick to go to heaven?
God has to pick.
Does Jesus, alone, save? Is that all there is to it, a cross around your neck, acceptance, faith and you can go out and Murder, rape, Pillage in IRaq as part of the Christian ARmy? You can experiment with premarital sex. You can be stingy and mean?
Jesus is a Get Out Of Jail Free card in the game of life?!
It's that easy!
Like Bennie in the movie "The Mummy" with all of his religious Icons saying the words as the Mummy approaches like one of them is going to save him!

I can not speak for other athiest but as for myself I do not "talk nonsense" about other religions. I merely ask thoughtful questions addressing contradictions in the Bible as well as parts of the Christian teachings that do not make logical sense.
And yes it does bother me when someone says disrespectful things of athiesm, chief among these as to be that athiest have no morals (this is far from true). Then again it also bothers Christians when someone speaks against Christianity and yet they talk nonsense about athieism and other religions.

like i said... get your facts straight before you open that stank mouth of yours. i'm sure God would love to hate you for all that trash you're talking giving him/her a bad name/rep. it's people like you that make us people hate you people with a religion (nice people NOT included). if religion's all that then why can't science prove it? if you can then go open that stank mouth of yours again. if not then sit back down.
and if you really want to be such a "good" person then why do you even need God to help you become a good person? a lot of people are GREAT even though they don't believe in God... and what? they don't even have a standard guideline book of what to do and not to do yet they STILL follow the rules. just give up asking questions regarding this matter because you'll just PHAIL just like all the other times

A wise person once said there are two things you don't discuss with others; politics and religion. It always sparks a feud.
As for the whining jerks that wanna cry about this and that, I say "Let the baby have it's bottle".
