Not all religions are - coming to think of it I should re-phrase it - Not all BELIEFS are - for example in Hinduism and Buddhism they teach non violence.

Let's see - any species fight over some matter - animals fight over mates ya - the same theory applies for humans. But, apart from the fight for the survival of the fittest, humans fight on their beliefs. As per Bible - God started war by ordering mass destruction of villages and races of non believers - most of the wars in this world has happened by selling the name of the GOD - a mythical thing that is hard to imagine that exists.

Unfortunately at present it has become a case where most violence is caused by religion, because you have a shield named God to hide behind when you do something wrong - you can get away with murder if you had done it in the name of God.

Why the silly lies? Mao Zedong was a Buddhist! Stalin was raised a Catholic and ruled the Russian Orthodox Church! There has never, EVER been a war in the name of atheism so all you are doing is trying to take attention away from the violent history of Christianity! Biblical wars. Crusades. WWII - Hence today I believe that I am acting in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator: by defending myself against the Jew, I am fighting for the work of the Lord. - Adolf Hitler My feelings as a Christian points me to my Lord and Savior as a fighter. - Adolf Hitler George W Bush started FIVE wars in less than eight years stating each time that it was his "God Given Duty” and on September 16th 2001 even called it a Crusade! Not his duty to the electors! Not his duty to America! Just his duty to keep slaughtering heathens for his god! Causing trillions of dollars of national debt that will take decades to repay and 46 MILLION Americans living below the poverty line that Mitt Romney does not care about!

Religion is not the main source of violence, hatred and fear are. Unfortunately, unscrupulous people can advance easily in almost any religion to further their own advances and use these as precepts to conduct a war for their enrichment.

Most religions are peaceful and based on Love. The common person, such as you and I, are disgusted with the war-like attitudes of our leaders. They do not seem to understand that most religions are made for the common man in their everday life.

When will they learn?

The source of wars and violence is the need of power and control; The religion is just a tool to reach the peuple interest in the war.

How about reading up on the Koran, Buddhist scriptures, Bible and check for yourself whether these religions really spread hate? How about going back to the source of religion? Many people do not practise what they preach. It is sad indeed to look at the instability of the world today.

Those that are committing all that violence are using God as an excuse. Power and control are the real reason for all the violence.

Most people grew up religious and their religion is their whole life so of course they try to defend their religion as the only one even though that is quite sickening most of the time.
