Please give me the pros and cons of each. And is a Silverado any better than any other kind of Chevy?

Um...I'm a lady. BTW, I'm well aware about the gd-awful gas prices, I have another car that I'll be using way more. I'm hearing more thumb-ups for Chevy, but I'll keep it open for a few more days to get as many opinions possible.

Ford stands for: Full of rust and dents, found on road dead, and my favorite, on a quiet night you can hear a Ford rust. :)
Seriously, we have had more transmission problems with our Ford, then we did with chevy's. We will never buy a Ford again. The Chevy Colorado is great truck if you aren't looking for a full size truck.

Ah, the great Ford vs. Chevy debate. Having worked on both, here is my 2 cents worth:
Ford: 96' and later w/modular engine, are great when they're running right. Have changed alot of coil packs and rear ABS sensors. Its true Ford automatic trans. are terrible especially the E4OD, when they go bad you toss them out. Haven't had to much work on the newer Ford trans because now its an R&R item.
Chevy: The big plus is they're easy to work on. (for a mechanic anyway) Fuel pumps dont last worth a darn and the interiors are weak. Replaced many door handles.
Haven't worked much with Dodge but the ones I have seem to be built well.
Me personally? I drive a 96' Ford F-150 early body style, w/5.0L never had a problem and I like idea of dual fuel tanks. Oh yeah, and its a 5 speed standard. If I needed a new truck today I would try a Dodge.
FORD= Flip Over, Read Directions,.... and this from a Ford mechanic.

From my journey, i could flow with the Ford truck. The Chevrolets have had some gas gadget subject concerns and the evade trucks are no longer very sturdy. Cam and crank sensor failures with the evade trucks are extremely common and a super variety of have had engine and transmission issues. once you are going to purchase a evade truck, then get the Cummins diesel. attempting to get Daimler/Chrysler to guarantee an engine could be a worry. I even have 2 Ford F-sequence super duty trucks, one is a wrecker and the different a ramp truck. the two are diesels and that i've got had very few issues of them. The ramp has the older 7.3 liter capability Stroke and the wrecker has the greater moderen 6.0 diesel. I even have had some driveability subject concerns with the 6.0, besides the fact that it fairly is been respectable. If that's a gentle truck, I additionally advise the Toyota Tundra or the Nissan Titan as properly, the two very properly engineered and the two have an extremely reliable dependabilty checklist.

Stop and think, young country ... do you NEED a truck? Are you haulin'? Are you pullin'? Or are you just reacting to that one young lovely who said, "Oh, I just love a guy with a truck!"
I've had a few pickups, and I drove my 1994 Dodge for almost 300,000 miles with no problems.
However, trucks DO NOT get good gas mileage, and those gas prices are going nowhere but up.
Don't listen to that "Fix Or Repair Daily" stuff - some redneck thought that up once over a few beers and it has been part of America's vocabulary ever since. Ford, Chevy or Dodge ... it's a TRUCK ... it's going to be made to run.
But again, think hard before you choose.

FORD.......First On Race Day!!!! They are both a good choice. I say Ford, because that's what I've been driving for the past 6-7 years. If, on the other hand, I had been driving a Chevy, I would say Chevy. I've got good AND bad service out of BOTH.

Just think of what Ford stands for, and that should tell you right there - Found On Road Dead.
Go Chevy and you won't regret it.
