When Adam and Eve was created by God, God gave them an absolute will, the power of choice, and not free will as others frequently says, because God is the only one who has this power (free will). The main reason why God did not gave Adam and Eve this power, in order for them not to mess around with the creation.
The reason why I gave this meaning is in order for you to understand this choice surrounding your question "why are you a chrisitan."
I did not choose to be a christian, I was branded a chrisitian because of my faith, I am a follower of Jesus of Nazareth, who is the christ. I believed in death, burial and resurrection. I also believed in whatever claim he says and his soon coming to judge the living and the dead.
If you will read the scripture, Christian are but mentioned 2 times in the New Testaments and the word saints and believers are mentioned more than 100 times. So, christianity today became a religious denominations and the people inside this so called religion are called christian. However, if we go back in history at this point in time, you will notice that they were not called Christian, they are called BELIEVER or SAINTS, becasue they are believers of Jesus Christ. So as the saying goes, if you are a christian you must be a saint or if you are a saint you must be a christian as the case maybe.
Believers (or christian) are the true worshipers of God. Why? because they worshiped God in Spirit and in Truth! And this is the kind of worship that God like, not the vain glory of religous do's and don'ts and ritualistic activities which has been nailed on the cross of calvary..
Today, they call me christian, well really I am not, but simply a BELIEVER.

Because as I see it, of all the religions of the world, the Bible is the most reliable. When I see prophesies fulfilled with no room for some broad mistakable interpretation - then I have to give credence to this remarkable living Word of God.
I have not seen any such evidence from other religions. ALL of Islams prophecies for example are so vague they could mean anything - and any situation could be bent to fit what the reader wants.
I am not aware of any other religion having prophesies fulfilled in such a dynamic way as the Bible. This evidence then suggests ALL the Bible is correct and thus God did send his Son to save us from the hell that sin affords.

Christians believe that god gave us the law to show that we are imperfect. Man could not live upto the law therfore falls short of the glory of God...god had mercy on man and came in the flesh to overcome sin and to die in mans place to pay the penalty of mans sin that those who accept this can have eternal life with God.

because Christianity gets me out of trouble ---
anytime I'm in trouble I just say "I'm a Christian" and put on my holier than though act - and people shut up and get their nose out of my business where it never belonged in the first place
