Most any animal can be trained to attack or be kind and gentle. It is all about the training and how they are treated by the owner, especially when they are young.

Pit Bulls along with any other breed of dog or animal can attack, alot of problems can occure in the breeding. If breed too close, example father dog with daughter etc. inbreeding. This can cause a behavior problem where an animal can snap at any percise time. I've had Pit Bulls, Sheppards, Rotties etc. All where fine with kids etc. But, they can be extreemly protective as well, more so a dog that preferrs only one person instead of several. But, then again, you can also get one that is fine with several people kids and other pets, its how they are brought up and treated and trained. Only problem ive ever found was the dogs who where trained wrong, or inbred as I had stated.

Training is most important here, I have known a pit bull that was a gentle as a lamb because the owner was with the dog all the time and trained him very well. Neglected dogs will fight because they do not know any better. Give a pit bull lots of love and affection and they will be fine

Looks like you've got yourself into touchy subject matter! I just have to add my input, in case you are thinking about getting one.
First, I'll define pit bull "fighting": When humans put 2 dogs that do not like each other together to see which one ends up the most chewed up, for money. I am assuming this is what you meant by the term. They were never bred to attack people.
Since fighting is cruel and outlawed, they are now being bred to like dogs again and to be nice, predictable family pets. Some still go crazy when challanged by other dogs, even when they pass most dogs without a problem... but so does my golden retriever! The reason most people get bitten by bully breeds is because:
1)They are trying to separate a dog fight.
2)They have a dominant dog that doesn't respect them
3)They got the dog from an irresponsible breeder
4)Play got out of hand: never play tug-of-war!
So, to answer your question, YES they can attack another dog without being trained to do so, anytime, because it is in their genes, but in well bred dogs that are properly trained, it should never happen.

All dogs will attack if the correct trigger is found even a family pet. It may not be against the owner or family members but they will. Pit bulls are very strong dogs therefore they have the reputation of being vicious killers. They only reflect what they are taught. They will protect what perceive as theirs if threatened. Another factor also is whether they are neutered or not.So enjoy your pet and be careful around strangers if they are not to be socialized with anyone but family members. Good Luck.

Why pit bulls? Everyone's always having a go at pit bulls.
Listen, there is NO SUCH THING as a bad dog, regardless of breed. It's the owners who must take responsibility for their behaviour.
A few years back, everyone was saying Rottweilers were dangerous dogs, but I found a STRAY Rott just roaming around the streets, exhausted and covered in cigarette burns. I took him home and at first he tried to attack me (thankfully he was too exhausted) but I fed him up, showed him lots of attention, trained him properly and he was the soppiest, most loving dog I have ever seen.

They are a breed that is unpredictable ( just like rottweilers). I don't care what anyone says, I just have seen and heard about too many attacks by "sweet gentle" dogs to think any different. Pit Bulls are actually outlawed where I live.

An American & or English Pitbull is probably the friendliest dog you will ever meet!!!! It is all in the way they are raised, trained, and treated! Take them as a pup and you will have a friend forever, take them a little older & learn where they came from. They are FANTASTIC dogs, if treated correctly!

They are completely unpredictable and subject to attacking anyone at any time without warning, especially when in groups of 2 or more! In my opinion they should be exterminated off of the earth!

Go here for an awesome dog training program http://OnlineDogTraining.enle.info/?M49V
Since it is obvious that you do not have a clue about obedience training, your services should be for free. You cannot train even an adult dog for 8 hours a day. About the most that can be done at any one time is 10 - 20 minutes and that is with an adult dog and not a puppy. The attention span on this baby is extremely short and training session should be no more than 10 minutes and twice a day. Additionally, there isn t going to be much learned if you will only be training for 5 days. Obedience training is cumulative and is done over a much longer period of at least several weeks to several months.
What you can charge is determined by your experience, reputation, and accomplishments and in a case like this, should also include guaranteed expectations. Just working with dogs over several years, is not the experience that is necessary to be a dog trainer. There are too many people who are putting that title to their name and fleecing the public. Don t be one of them.
