My dear little CHihuahua is 3 yrs old and very attatched to me. I have to go overseas and my two daughters are here but when I have left the dog in the past she doesn't eat, shakes a lot ,becomes very fretful and barks and cries more than usual. How can I help her adjust to the fact that I am going away for two weeks!?

Ask the vet for a tranquilzer for the dog, she sound like she is going to need it. Also, if you can, get a half hour video of yourself and talk to her saying all kind of things you know she loves. (mommie loves you, etc) Also leave something like a blanket, coat, shoe, etc that has your scent on it so she can be next to it. Also, ask the vet what ideas he may have to help. Nervious dogs is something they deal with every day, so they may have some great ideas.

I would have your daughters try to give her a lot of attention a few days before your trip, so she gets comfortable with them, and hopefully secure. Other than that, leaving your clothes near her so she has your scent is a good option as well.

place some of your cloths with your sent on it and leave lots of treats with your daughters and tell them when the dog gets worked up just leaver her to calm down before giving her a treat and a fuss

You need to be the pack leader. Just go to Cesar Milan's website, you'll see. She does that because she thinks she is the pack leader and you have left without her permission. Here's a link http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/channel/dogwhisperer/
