Particularly near rivers, outdoor musicfests, parks, and college campuses. Do they not know they smell like a dead skunk.

I'm sorry that you have met "Unhygienic" people. But just because they have long hair, preach peace, and dress differently does NOT make them a HIPPIE.
In fact, you should check the reference of the 1960's between the HIPPIE movement and the YIPPIE movement. (Yes, Yippies existed, but you haven't heard much about them, have you? [No I do NOT mean YUPPIES either!])
I do agree that "fragrant people" may not seem very pleasant to be around, but be careful about generalizing WHO they are.

I am a hippie and I don't smell bad. Actually I've been told how nice I smell. I CAN'T STAND the smell of patchouli and I bathe every day just like everyone else. I think the stink is a build up of all that patchouli. The smell literally makes me vomit. And mixed with perspiration. EW!!! I will faint dead away.

Probably because after dropping six hits of acid it's rather difficult to organize a trip to the bathroom. :)

They never took a bath..... to busy jammin', tokin' and druggin' to think otherwise. I think the patchouli is from the incense.....
